I have an alien baby trying to escape. Hernia repair 1/11/12

I will be having it repaired on 1/11/12. Dr will try to do it lap but a 50% chance of  having to change to open. He's worried about the bowel that's in the hernia. He has a good understanding of the DS. Probably better then any general surgeon in this area! Or even surrounding  areas. He has done over 2000 hernia repairs. He took care of me when I had my complication 1 week post op. Can't wait to get this thing taken care of!! Wish me luck!

Boy, Ruby, kind of looks like mne. Wish I could get mine repaired.

I hate this stupid thing. I've had it for over a year. Dr Inman was going to repair it in April or May. My insurance changed and my secondary won't cover out of state. I fully trust this surgeon and he is well versed in the workings of the DS.

 Is it painful, Ruby?  I've only seen herniated belly buttons but never a hernia like yours.  That's incredible.  Thanks for posting pictures.

No, Sheri, it's not painful. When it's my TOM it bloats. When I have gas it bloats. In the last 3 days when I'm full I get a pain that runs through it for just a few seconds. It is my TOM so that may have something to do with it. The biggest thing is without a compression garmet it kinda "pulls". It's more aggerivating then anything. I can't wait to get it fixed. A year with this stupid thing is long enough!

 Hi Ruby!  I read on another thread you just reached onderland!  You are going to look so good and feel so different after this surgery!  Congrats!  Post after pictures when you are done!

I'm planning on taking some pretty soon post op then again once the swelling goes down. I hope I look better. I know I will it's just hard to imagine not having this stupid thing.

Two things.. I didn't realize they opened you for your DS.  And second, I sincerely hope they don't have to open you for your hernia!!!  And, I'm very happy for you that you're at a stage that you are able to have it taken care of (insurance, etc.).
