chanukah should be the official holiday of the DS

For chanukah it is a mitzvah(commandment) to eat food fried in oil.

So I will get to eat chicken baked in its own skin so the fat can drip off the thighs and flavor them. No more ripping the golden crispy skin off.

Potato latkes held together with egg and fried in oil............yeah!!

The lesser tradition is to eat cheese- to celebrate Judith who plied the enemy general with salty cheese and wine, then beheaded him!! Bring on the protein!

the only problem is that bacon would not be on the traditional menu----now turkey bacon would make it but is no substitute for the pig bacon (imho).

so for all of us celebrating chanukah tonite let us rejoice!
okay my christmas friends please give details why christmas should be the official DS holiday....do not hold back give me the juicy details
Gratitude is my attitude

Don't forget about the deep fried jelly donuts! (Sufganiot)
I haven't tried but wonder if they could be made with Splenda and SF jelly.

I LOVE to hear you talk about Chanukah that way! I'm Jewish too--but only 2 weeks out and I'm missing latkas terribly!!!!  I wondered how a DSr might view them since they are made with potatos.  HOWEVER, I just saw a recipe for them made with cauliflour and another with parsnips.  So that ups the fiber/nutrutional value.  I see my surgeon tomorrow and I'm going to BEG him to let me eat a soft cooked latka --but I'm CERTAIN he'll say no-no for my new tummy.

Chappy Chanukah! (and yes, I ment to write CHHHHHapy)
