Protruding Stomach

Hi all:  I had my surgery on 8/22 and I'm doing well, down now 50 lbs.!  yay!  So I'm very happy with it.  I had the stomach/sleeve part of the DS, not sure if I'll have the bypass part yet, I'm doing so well with just the restriction.  Anyway, my only concern is my stomach seems to be protruding a little and is bulbous and a little firm to the touch.  Is this normal?  Would like to hear from others who have had this happen and if it is permanent or does it go down?

Go get evaluated for a hernia.

It sounds like you might have a hernia. Call your doc and have him/her take a look.

I have a similar situation but only sometimes after I eat.  When I go to the ladies room it goes back down...is that normal?

Sounds like an incisional hernia....I have a large one.

Thanks everyone!  Since my post I've been in contact with my surgeon and you're right he said it sounds like an incisional hernia, I'm seeing him Friday.

                      Right now I am in a similar situation....I was diagnosed with incisional hernia recently...since being diagnosed it has gotten larger too....we are trying to hold off surgery until Ive lost more weight!!  You are doing the right thing seeing your doctor....lol...my little ones asked me if I was having a baby again!!!   Good Luck to you....

Thanks Moody, I know what you mean, I look a few months pregos myself!  lol  My doctor also indicated he waits until the weight stabilizes.  Do you know why they do that?  If it's not caused by the weightloss, why wait?  I'd like to get this fixed as soon as possible.   Thanks again!
