It's a process. Don't expect an instant love affair. The DS is like a man that you have to get used to and then once you do, you wonder how you ever got along without him.  At least that's what I keep telling myself. I am still in the 'food sucks' stage and I didn't understand how depressing it would be to eat  (just a little) and realize food tastes different. But it is temporary and what you really want to focus on is healing and hydration. The sacrifice you'll make now is nothing compared to a lifetime of NO heart disease/stroke, no more obesity and no diabetes. How do you put a price on that?  Oh, I forgot no dumping syndrome; no puking every time you eat (if you do you might have a stricture so don't ignore it), no counting calories, no avoiding fat, etc., etc., etc.  The vets will chime in soon with even happier stories. You can alwasy ask yourself this: how many DS patients do you see on the revision boards looking to revise to something else?
All the vets have moved to a site where there is no censorship and no biased, unfair moderation. If you want ACCURATE information, join us here:
