One year ago today.....
Hello DS fellows, One year ago today, I had my DS surgery after a failed RNY and lap band. After almost 6 years post RNY, I was feeling hopeless, frustrated and scared, not to mention that I had gained back 82 lbs of the 126 I had lost from the RNY. One year ago today I was 262 and today i am 188. I am 52 years old, almost 53 next month and am 5'5'' tall. My top weight was 305 lbs when i had my RNY.
I came to OH again to seek answers and help, and came across the D'S board and success stories, especially the revisions DS'rs who gave me hope. I immediately looked into the option of the possibility of getting my RNY revised to the DS and all went so smoothly. I had hope, and was excited!
I must say that my journey has been much slower than most (even with the other revised RNY people or other revision surgeries) . I had truly hoped that I would of at least lost 100 lbs in one year which is less than 10 lbs a month.
That did not happen for me. as of today, I have lost 74 lbs. Now let me say that though disappointed that i did not reach the 100 lb mark yet, I have TOTAL FAITH that I WILL GET THERE and WILL NOT GIVE UP! I KNOW I WILL GET THERE, but it is just taking my sweet body a little longer to do so.
All in all, I am happier, healthier, prettier and more confidant than I have been is such a very long time and I could not do on my own prior to my DS surgery. So with that being said, I truly THANK ALL OF YOU who were there for me, have been there for me, helped guide me, shared your experience and love with me and helped me along the way. YOU STILL DO!
Much gratitude for all of you and I look forward to the next year to come!
Life has been GOOD!
