Ya know, I thought you were all lyin.
You are exactly right... it is so hard to eat when you just don't feel like it or you can't because you throw everything up. Who would have thought it would be so hard to eat let alone drink after surgery. As prepared as I thought I was, I wasn't.
It is a longer haul for some of us than others and I was always so jelous of others as well. I dealth with the non-hunger, throwup, nausea issues for 6 months.
Hang it there.... it does get better.

Let me rain on your parade just a bit. No, not all of that 20 lbs is "true weight" loss. A good bit of it is water, and will reappear.
When you are not taking in sufficient calories to meet your metabolic needs, your body first turns to stored glycogen for energy. You have 2-3 lbs of glycogen stored in your muscles and liver. Glycogen is poorly water soluble - it requires 4 lbs of water per lb of glycogen to keep it in solution. When you start a diet, the first easy 10 lbs of weight loss is actually 2 lbs of glycogen and 8 lbs of water that is shed when the glycogen is used up.
After a time, your body will come to the conclusion that the caloric deficit has to be made up from stored fat, and that the glycogen emergency energy needs to be restored. So you will start putting glycogen back into the muscles and liver, and storing water along with it. And viola, the early-out stall.
Don't take either of these events seriously.

That is awesome! I second what Diane said and say avoid the scale for awhile so you wont get discouraged when your weight goes up a little of your not lossing anymore. I lost so much this 1st month (hopefully 30lb by tomorrow) i just know next month is going to be disappointing so i plan to give hubs the scale and only weigh weekly (i weigh daily, like ive always done all my life!...time to break the habit!)
But you see the inches are coming off. Im measuring tomorrow at my 1 month so i can see how much ive lost in a month.
But you are for sure right! The DS DOES work:) I hope recovery continue to stay decently smooth!

Even us scale nazis eventually have a day, then 2, then 4, then a whole week, where we forget to weigh. I see the thing every morning, and I get on about once a week... I feel so much better that the numbers don't really matter anymore, not REALLY.
Will I keep weighing myself? Yes. Will I be dissapointed if I don't reach my arbitrary number goal I've chosen? Yes, for a little bit. Then I will get on with my life, and remember that I did this so my daughter can remember playing with her Mama, not just playing next to me.
The first couple times the scale jumps up, it's heartbreaking. You think "Yup, I knew it. I knew I would be the one that breaks this miracle tool." Now, when it goes up, I know that just means I get to see a larger drop a little later instead.
The DS changes you, and not just your insides. I am more patient, and less unforgiving to myself. Viva la DS!!!

I'm glad your thrilled now.
Please don't come back in a few months and cry about your three week stall.
It's all fits and starts and stops but the OVERALL picture is a lot of weight loss over the next 18 months.
Remember that! Throw away your scale! lol
