So, pulled muscle .. or hernia?

Probably a week ago I had a severe pain in my abdomin, at first I thought it was more internal (intestinal) but then realized it was more muscle related.  Normally I don't feel any pain per se, except an occasional annoying nag.  However when I take a deep breath my lower left side hurts.  Not like a stabbing pain but it doesn't feel great.  Also, I notice when I try to lift anything the pain comes.  I'm concerned because if it's simply a pulled muscle it's been a week you'd think I'd be better by now.

Few other things, my DS was done open, but the pain is NOT where the incision is, its to the left and lower, near my hip/groin area.

Does this sound like a hernia?  I've never had one, so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks,
Justin

Did some checking on web MD.  Guess I'll have to go get checked out:

This sounds very much like it, sigh.

It does sound like it could be a hernia. Get it checked out.

my husband had one near his groin area too. he wore some biking shorts to try and help keep things in till he could have it taken care of. Go in. His got to the point where it was trying to pop out before he went in. (I think I cut off some control top pantyhose if the bike shorts didn't work but he declined the offer!) good luck
