I have something similar from time to time but it feels more like it is in my breasts. I think it just might be gas moving around my body in my case. I have had a pain that feels like a stitch in my right side ever since surgery that hurts when I sneeze or take a really deep breath. It has slowly been subsiding and since I can easily sleep on that side, I am not concerned about it. I really think this stitch is muscular so I haven't been concerned. But I sure do try to get into position every time I sneeze because it feels like something is going to burst in me if I am stretched out. However, I have had a couple of sneezes come out of nowhere and I did not rupture anything, hehehe.

Thanks Sandy. I know exactly what you mean with the sneeze. I kinda hunch over and hold my chest! :) If it was closer to my surgery i think i would think more that it had to do with that but being in my chest...just weird. I know pain can radiate and ive had my share of shoulder pain from the lapband.

I really hope its just muscular!!! Thanks hun:)

I would not wait until tomorrow if I were you.  Looks like you had surgery earlier this month?  If so, you're not so far out -  the rare blood clot can still occur.

Just my 0.2, both from my education and seeing my sister complain about a pulled muscle (post-op) that turned out to be a PE.

Thanks vintagechick...i just got your msg and will be seeing my dr in 2 hrs. Wow, i really hope its not a PE. It didnt even occur to me that it would present that way. Ill make sure to meantion it to my doc just in case he does think of it either.

I had very similar symptoms in June/July, turned out to be pleurisy (fluid buildup around the lungs - not in the lungs, but around the outside).  Very painful!  Hurt to breathe, hurt to change positions in bed, hurt to bend over and pick something up, and the pain seemed to be focused in my very core.  I actually thought it was something to do with my diaphragm.  It did feel something like a pulled muscle right down deep in my middle.

I had just come back from a vacation in Europe, and "chest pain immediately following a long plane trip" my doc was thinking PE (pulmonary embolism) so he sent me to the ER.

They ran a bazillion tests, discovered the pleurisy (no PE, thank God), tapped off about 300 cc of fluid via thoracentesis, tested that, and never did find out WHY I developed pleurisy.  Suspects include auto-immune diseases like lupus, but my doctor eventually ruled out everything.  They just don't know why it happened.

Treatment was prednisone, which I resisted, but ultimately relented - resisted not so much because of the weight gain but I have heard and read that some people develop diabetes as a result of taking prednisone, or steriods in general I guess.  I was only on it for a week, then he put me on OTC NSAIDS for a couple weeks, and that was that.  Except numerous follow-ups with back palpations and listening ("breathe normally"), and a couple chest x-rays.

My hope for you is, it turns out to be nothing more than a pulled muscle, but find out!
