Any average of how long...
Drink lots of lemon or lime water...wash the ketones out. I used Altoids peppermints and sucked on them when I walked.

Not hard on the new stomach at a couple of weeks out. I only sucked on them when I'd walk. 2 Altoids in 15 minutes, so I didn't over do. Keep pushing the water first and foremost.

It is not your mouth it is ketosis from burning fat. YAY!
You'll hurt your weight loss more than your stomach with regular mints. You'd be ok weight loss-wise with sugar free, but most contain "-itols" sugar alcohols such as sorbitol. These can cause the runs, so try it out when you'll be home for awhile first.

Also keep an eye out for a furry tongue. About a week after surgery my tongue felt like a dried up sea sponge and I had wicked breath. Turns out I had a raging case of Thrush, which is very common after surgery and massive anti-biotic treatment. I got an RX to treat the catapillar tongue, and it cleared up within a few days.
