OT- Lyme Disease
Totally OT- but need some medical guidance from any medical people we have here.
My 6yo son was diagnosed with Lyme Disease the other day, his pediatrician should be calling me today, but we know he's had it for some time and it finally showed up on the lab results. We can trace every symptom back to almost a year ago (full force in January of 2011 the started showing). How serious is it that it's been left untreated for approximately a year?? He's had serious joint pain (which started in June) and fevers with absolutely no other symptoms since last November. I'm trying to not overreact but I know that left untreated it can cause heart problems and long term joint problems.
Anybody ever have lyme disease please speak up too. I made the mistake of researching on the internet and have scared myself of all the possiblities.

I think it's best to find other parents with children who have had Lyme disease. Children and adults react and recover differently. Symptoms that might linger in an adult after the disease is cleared might not do so in a child.
Listen to your doc and if you are still concerned, find a pediatric infectious disease specialist.

I've a pathological fear of paediatrics so I'm not the person to ask but a quick google took me to pubmed. This link might be a good start.
