High Liver Enzymes - Those several years out?

Mine have been wonky for a little bit too.  I've had MRIs and CT scans (just ruling things out because I was having digestive problems too), and no blockages or anything was found.

I stopped taking a prescription med and that made them go down almost all the way.  I was one point above range on only one of the two tests this last time.

My surgeon thought it was vitamin D, but I wasn't willing to back down from 100k IU with a vit D still only at 65 and decreasing bone mass as it is.

Ugh - sorry for you,  Kayla!

How do you know you have that much bne mass decrease?  Dang...I really haven't ever had a density scan and I guess I should??   I asked for one and was told I was too young, not to worry... blah blah.

I did read liver enzymes can go up with bone related issues --  so maybe that's what's happening in your case?   And maybe mine...   Oh and I read Celiac can cause it too - I considered eliminating gluten from my diet (would be good for me to do anyway....)

I need to get that checked out too.  My D / calcium showed well but again I haven't had my PTH tested in about two years.

Thanks for the inpute and hope they find an answer for you!

I forgot to ask.... are you using Flagyl / Fishzole?

I do...several times a week.  I am stopping anyway since I am trying to have another baby.... but this is another reason.

Yes, I have had 2 bone density scans since my DS.  I definitely don't think you are too young.  I am only 24!

I'm a lil different though, since I also have amenorrhea (no period...loss of estrogen).  Estrogen helps the body absorb calcium from the gut, so loss of estrogen can cause further bone loss.

I was taking flagyl for a while a couple years ago, but stopped and the enzymes never went back down (or they are doing so horribly slowly).

The med I discontinued was an oral estrogen.  I wasn't absorbing it well and I'm using a transdermal gel now.

I had been thinking about this and was remembering why I had high levels years ago, and this may have nothing to do with you, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I was using some cream on my face where some zits had left little dark spots, and it had several things in it that my doctor was suspicious of. One is retin-A (can be called tretinoin), and the other was hydrquinone (also called benzene-1, 4-diol, or quinol).

She said these are common in womens products, and we absorb them and they are hell on the liver. I quit using that stuff, and my levels are fine again, so it may have been one or both of those. I'm willing to retry them to find out.
