Insurance Question (United Healthcare)

DeterminedDanni's question about BCBS got me wondering if anyone has had experience with United Healthcare, on how long it got to get a decision once the paperwork went in...

My actual insurance is "AARP Medicare Complete Plus, insured through United Healthcare"

My paperwork is being submitted today or tomorrow, and as far as I know, I have met every requirement that they have told the doctor's insurance gal about. I have the coverage. I just need a preauth.

Does anyone have any inside scoop?

From my experience, everyone's UHC is a little bit different.  Everything depends on what the purchaser decided to buy from UHC.  In your case, AARP.  For what it's worth, it took about 2 weeks for my approval to show up at my doctor's office.  They decided and approved me after about a week, which I found out when I called to check.

My approval with UHC took about 2-3 weeks...more like 2.5 if I remember correctly.  I just know that I expected to have to jump hoops and was surprised that it was approved quickly and the first time.  I was switching from the band to DS.
