Pistachio protein
i occasionally buy pistachios for a healthy snack. the need to shell them slows down the intake and there are 6 g of protein to 9g of carbs.
So...I am reading the nutrition facts and there is a note saying that these are not a significant source of protein! ??? The only place I have seen this before was with pork rinds.
Does anyone have a clue as to why these nuts would not be a source of protein? I understand the pork skins.

according to this site...http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/31 36/2 they are good for fiber and protein.
The bag may show not much nutrition because their serving size is so small that it doesn't show anything in that small serving.

Pistachios probably lack certain amino acids that cause them to not be a complete protein, so they decided to add this to the label, . Very common in plant products.
It just means that you need to combine them with another food to complete the amino acid profile. Doesn't have to be at the exact same time, can just be later in the day.
Basically, as this applies to a DSer, this means...don't just eat pistachios all day, you need a variety of sources to make sure you get all the amino acids you need.
I would not be concerned about this unless this is the only food you were consuming.
