I'm crying here.  I'm so sorry love.  Unless you've been owned by a horse you'll never know what it means to share your life with these amazing sensitive animals.

Be at peace honey. xxx

Another horse person checking in. I know it's tough. There are no words. But at least take comfort in the fact that her last years were great ones.

Nicole, I am so sorry for your loss. Your post was so touching and i am in tears here. I am an animal person in general but specially a dog person. We had to put down a rescue that we adopted just a few weeks earlier. I cried like crazy but I always had to remember that even the short time she had with us was a time where she felt loved and was able to experience a "real home" instead of being in a shelter.
And I truly believe your horse looked so peacful and happy because you gave her the love that you did and made her last years special. I know you will miss her but you had an impact on her life just like she did on yours.

Oh Nicole, she was a beauty.  I'm so glad that you had each other.  You will still have to deal with your grief, don't hold it in.  Remembering the good times and all the love that went on between the two of you will help.  Hugs sweetie, you were a great mommy.

Deisel Queen,

I am so sorry you hurt so. I know what it's like to be feel cursed and blessed by the power to give or take life/suffering for one of our loved ones. And I know what you mean when you say she told you it was ok for both of you to let go now. Sometimes we have to wait for them to be the guide in these things.

Many hugs to you for all you've been thru, in the rescue, knowing your time was short, yet risking it for her. It takes a special person to rescue knowing that the total elapsed time together would be shortened, and yet, risk to love anyway.

Thank you.

Oh honey, that's a beautiful tribute.  You gave her a wonderful last summer and a happy life.  She'll always be alive in your heart and memory.
