Congrats on the great PET scan results.
It sounds like eating well will help, too.

Yay-congrats!

Veggies or not--I think your attitude plays a big part :)

Buuuut, while we're talking about it, I listened to a lecture from a doctor that uses turmeric in his cancer treatments.

Thanks, Kayla!  I use turmeric in most of my cooking, even scrambled eggs (really, it's good!).  There's a list of veggies, fruits, & spices that have particularly high amounts of phytochemicals, etc . . . . since pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, & ginger are all on the list, it's a GREAT excuse to eat a lot of pumpkin pie.  I'm using a crustless gluten-free recipe & substituting half the sugar with splenda.  I also use coconut milk so that it's rich in omega fatty acids (also good for lots of things, including fighting cancer).  It's a 9" deep pie & one slice has 4 grams of fiber, 5 grams of complex carbs, 5 grams of sugar, & 5 grams of protein (& I don't care about the fat!).  That's good enough for me in maintenance to sinfully indulge in all the pumpkin pie I want & be happy that I can incorporate so many healthy things.  YEA!!!

Congrats on the PET scan. My mom has/had this same type of cancer, stage 4 in 2004- she did chemo in 2005 along with holistic medicine, she was getting pet scans every 6 months after remission and now on a yearly basis , and she was going in for chemo once every six months after the initial remission phase but eventually she took a more "severe" holistic approach and it seems to work well for her as she maintains her remission without those chemo boosters. The Chemo itself was more difficult on her physically than the cancer. She swears nowdays by a lot of dietary changes that she believes helped her with the cancer- no sugar being a big part of it and then just eating organic high antioxidant and specific foods. I dont recall all the foods but i remember she used to import by the pound beluga caviar right b4 it became illegal in the US due to its high Omega acid content. Incorporating holistic medicine will help you heal faster. I hope this will all be soon a distant memory and you get your full health back.

I'm glad to hear that your mom is doing well.  I really wish that there was a more synergistic relationship b/w both traditional & alternative approaches.  I think all the junk "treatments"/ gimmicks that fall under the alternative approach unfairly tarnish those treatments that actually are helpful.  Consumers just have to be savy & choose carefully.  In this at least, there's no possible negative side effect from eating more fruits & veggies and it's really easy to incorporate while maintaining a high protein diet.
