Bacon HATES me! WHY?

I just don't get it!  I mean I thought bacon was supposed to be one of "most" DS'ers favorite things to eat...but bacon HATES me!  I've tried to eat it several times since I was given the okay by my surgeon's office without success.  I've tried thick sliced, thin sliced, traditional pork bacon, turkey bacon, peppered bacon, bacon in eggs, bacon smothered in cheese, with eggs and cheese, you name it I've tried it.  Sad thing is I can tear up a pork chop or some BBQ ribs.  Pre-op I loved bacon...which is probably 1 of the reasons I had high cholesterol.  But now every single time I eat it, I get sick.  Not just I feel sick to my stomach sick, but ok wait I can hold it, nope I'm gonna lose it, oh NO I LOST it sick!

Has anybody else had this problem?  If so when could you eat bacon?  I'm tired of doing the oh let's see if I can tolerate this food today game and losing.

I had a sensitive stomach pre-op too (the darn thing) so of course it followed post op.  Cast iron stomach/never thrown up?  You LUCKY girl!  I had big plans for eating things over the next couple weeks...like maybe buttery popcorn.  I think that's going on hold now.

Give it some time. Enjoy the things you can tolerate. I agree about the grease. Just might be too much for right now. Go tear up some yummy pork ribs for spite.

Hugs,

It was a few months before I could really enjoy bacon.

Ach you're still a new belly. Just try it again in another month and see how you go.  It is going to be like this for a while for whatever reason.  I had special moments with various foods for about 6 months before it settled down.

RIP Mickie aka Happychick.  You will be missed deeply.

lol true Kirmy...but all you vets have given me high hopes of mountains of bacon!  I just hope I don't have to wait 6 months.

Thanks ladies for the replies!  I know all hope is not lost!  I never thought about it possibly being the grease since our bodies do not absorb much fat anymore.  Come to think of it the only foods that I don't tolerate well tend to be greasy...like sausage, a hamburger patty, or the bacon (but bacon is the worst).  I'm going to wait at least another month before I try it again (just in case) and I hope it will like me as much as I used to like it!
