Take your smokies, wrap in bacon, thin bacon is better. Use a toothpic to hold together and a handy lil handle later, lol. Cover in brown sugar and bake.

My cousin makes the best and she takes the extra time puts brown sugar in a bowl, a dollop of bbq sauce and a smidge and I mean just a drop or two of dijon mustard and makes a paste. She then drizzles this over each smokie. It is delish.

Sorry I don't have exact measurements. We always just throw it together. They're always the first thing gone.

When baking you just have to watch the bacon for your likings and make sure the brown sugar doesn't burn. Well worth the time and effort.

I just got back from grocery shopping this morning.

Here's what I got:

-I hear ya' on the chili thing, I got stuff to make sloppy joe's (I dont eat the bun, just eat it like chili). I use ground beef, onion/garlic, diced tomatoes, and a bunch of spices. It has brown sugar in it, so regular chili is better for carb watchers.  But my family loves this and it doesnt bother me.
-Greek yogurt
-Eggs
-Lemon curd, I use little to mix in my yogurt.  Again, not for the serious carb watchers
-Pistachios, cashes, and macademia nuts - my current fav's
-Deli meats to roll up - ham, turkey, and provolone
-Pickles which I roll up with the above at times
-Canned tiuna
-Olives from the olive bar at Fresh Market - some stuffed w provolone and some stuffed w blue cheese
-Baby back ribs for tomorrow (yum!)
-Heavy cream for coffee and shakes
-Breakfast sausage
-Tea, I drink a ton of hot and/or iced tea
-Stuff for taco dip - refried beans and cream cheese, which I beat together with taco seasoning, and top with salsa, sour cream, cheese, and assorted taco toppings.  My son has friends over tonight and they'll eat this with tortilla chips.  I'll eat some with a spoon.

Baby back ribs - YUM!!!!!! How do you make them? I've bought the fully cooked ones from the store, but they are too tough for me. I only have luck with the ones from Honey Baked Ham. I've never had any real luck making them on my own. Care to share?

I have completely forgotten about sloppy joes, but that's going on the list!!! No bun necessary.

I also do my own version of baked spaghetti. I don't do too many noodles these days, as they don't like me, which in turn makes me not like them. I brown my beef, add spaghetti sauce of my choice. Put it in a very small casserole dish, top with parm, provolone and mozz and bake until bubbly. It's YUMMY!

Once I learned how to make baby back ribs, I was shocked at how easy they are.

Take the rack of uncooked ribs.  Turn it over to make sure there is no silver membrane type thing running down the back.  If it is, take a sharp knife and cut it off.  I get mine at The Fresh Market and they take it off before selling, but I read this step on the internet so thought I'd mention it.

Put the whole rack in a roasting pan, on a cookie sheet, or in an aluminum foil disposable lasagna plan - really whatever you have that they will fit in.

Season them with salt and pepper, or whatever you like.  Ideas would be a BBQ,rub or garlic powder, etc.  Dont get carried away because you will put bbq sauce on them later.

Leave them in the oven at 250 degrees for about 3 hours.  When the meat is softened and pulling away from the bone is when you take them out.

The put them on the grill outside with some BBQ sauce to crispen them up, it takes about 5 minutes!
I suppose if it's winter and you dont have the grill going you could just put them under your broiler for a few minutes, too.

Thank you for this. I will definitely try a small rack next time, and see how it goes!

Great list!

What do you use the bulk italian sausage to make? I thought of getting some this week and mixing with ground beef to make meatballs, but I've never had one actually stay down. Mind you, I've never made them at home. I love italian sausage, just not sure how to use it!

Thanks for the many, many great ideas! For once a month, I don't think 440 is too bad at all. I spent over 100 a week for just me. Now, this does include some incidentals like TP, washing detergent and such as needed.

How do you like the Vitatops? I've seen them and wanted to try, but haven't yet. Which flavors have you tried?
