Hi Gina,

I want to thank you for your daily posts. I'm a newbie, pre-op on this site and reading your posts and those of others on this site gives me some ideas for what I'll be able to eat in maintenance mode. I know I won't be eating like this post surgery though. I noticed that you and some of the others have protein coffees each day. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I wondered if you have any recipes for a protein hot cocoa drink instead? I'm not sure what exactly you put into your protein coffees, but I was wondering if there's a way to modify it for a hot cocoa drink instead. And is this something I could have a couple months out post surgery? Thanks again for your valuable advice. My surgery is Sept. 13 and once I'm home from the hospital, I hope to post on this link to help keep track of my daily protein intake, vitamins and exercise.

Warmest wishes,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I have made hot chocolate shakes and one I really like is a protein chai tea latte. Buy chai tea in bags so you don't get the added sugar or sugar alcohols that may be in the pre-blended chai teas.

Brew a pot of strong chai tea.

In a blender bottle with wire ball, add 4 oz of 1/2 & 1/2 and a scoop of IDS MultiPro vanilla-cinnamon protein powder.
Shake a little until blended and pour the protein slurry in to a hug mug.
Add chai tea over the protein slurry and stir.
(you could also make sugar free hot chocolate and pour it over a cool protein slurry)

You want to add hot liquids to cool protein to keep the protein from clumping. Enjoy!
