Our surgeons and the World Congress on Bariatrics
Dr. Gagner had to run after my surgery as he was expected at The World Congress on Bariatris being held in Hamburg Germany this year. Several of our surgeons are presenting there including Dr. Gagner, Rosenthal, Pomp, Buchwald and more. On Saturday they will be performing live surgery that will stream on the site (I believe). Check out the program for the conference @ http://www.ifso2011.de/program.htm

There are some great topics listed there. I wish they would allow patient testimony though. Looks like they are really pushing low BMI patients towards less effective WLSs. {sigh}

I'm hoping they will stream the live surgery as you made note that they might.
I think I've worn out YouTube over the past couple of weeks watching all the DS surgical procedure videos I could find.
It is my hope that something good will come of this re: Ontario's stance on the DS specifically. Yes it seems to be much imporved from two years ago, but it still has a ways to go in my honest opinion. The fact that it is not even mentioned at orientation sessions is a bit irksome, but I digress.

I saw someone write that they "mention all three surgeries" - does that mean The Band, RNY and VSG?

They mention that the band is not covered by OHIP, yadda, yadda, yadda.
But there was absolutely no mention of the DS at TWH when I went to that orientation. I thought about asking why that was during the question period, but I decided to not step on any toes.
