What amount of B2 is recommended? (cracks at corners of mouth)
Hi Everyone.
My PCP has all of the sudden decided that evaluating my labs is 'way beyond his area of expertise' so I am finding a new doctor. My last labs were in December and I hope to get them done again soon.
Last week I developed cracks in the corners of my mouth and neosporin didn't help, lotrimin didn't help, prescribed nystatin from my dentist didn't help...even tried tea tree oil. I assume at this point that it is not fungal and is a Vitamin B deficiency. From what I've researched it would be riboflavin specifically so I picked up a bottle of B2 at CVS yesterday. They are 100mg tablets and I was wondering what the recommended dosage would be? I am now peeing a very pretty Gatorade color!
I currently take 100mg B1, 5,000mcg of B12 and 5mg of Folic Acid (in addition to everything else). I will be adding a Super B complex to my next VitaLady order.
Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank-you.

Sounds like you're doing what you can until you can find a doc, PA or RD that can understand labs and help you tweak them.

I think what you stated in your post is a good plan. 100mg of B2 along with the other B's you're taking is fine until you get your B-Complex. Keep an eye on all the B levels through labs though, some of us can get to a point where a B-Complex every day (even a 50mg complex) is too much.

A pcp who knows that our labs are above their level of expertise is a good thing IMO as long as they will order what you need ordered. I would never expect to find a PCP to advise me on my labs. Ever. My new pcp knows that he is not going to be my source of lab advice and is willing to order whatever I want ordered. He's my kind of doc.

He won't even order the labs anymore. I don't know what his problem is, I've been compliant and don't really ask anything of him except to order the labs, I always ask here for advice on them and have been fortunate to get helpful answers to tweak my regimen. He has never taken an interest in my surgery so it's my own fault for not looking for someone else sooner and letting it get to this point.
