yes.  sorry I did mean folate.  Folate's the natural form, folic acid is the supplement form.  sorry!

could you post ranges anytime you list a lab value too?  It's no big deal this time, I just went ahead and looked them up, but it makes it easier to see the range next to the value.

did you happen to have methylmalonic acid or homocysteine drawn?

What's your B12 & copper and other protein markers?

Definitely need to increase protein, and get on some vit K.  Don't worry about the carotene (we dont absorb it at all and cant convert it anyway).  I'm also not convinced your anemia is from iron...  Many things can cause anemia.  Sad to say, definitely need to work on your levels before you can go for plastics.  A, D, zinc ect all need to come up as well...  Clotting factors need to go down.  Protein markers need to come up.

Yes - and see a hematologist to determine the cause of the anemia and the appropriate course of action.

ebeanie said it already (as well as some others), your prothrombin time is the seconds it takes to clot. 11 sec is getting up there.  I think 13 sec is the high end of the range. I take 1000 mcg of K1 daily to get mine back to mid range.

If you are taking vitalady's plan, you are also taking Mg citrate with your calcium. I have had good luck taking it in a 2:1 ratio (2 Ca per 1 Mg). K2 is also helping with Ca absorption (250 mcg daily).

I also take 50 mg zinc, but not at the same time I take copper (2 mg per day).

Good luck on upping the protein levels and upping your RBCs for your plastics! I'm hoping all goes well for you.

Hugs,
Ratkity

Very helpful information.  Thank you so much.  I already put in a Vitalady order.  I will look to see if I can find some K at the vitamin shoppe.  Where do you get yours?

Got it from VLs site! 1000 mcg K1. I think I need to set up another order myself.

What I know about labs I can post right here:

You need to post all previous labs because it isn't just about today it is about yesterday and the trends.
You need to post all your labs because they are all interconnected.
You need to post your vitamin regimine and how much protein you get.

If you can do all of that then the vitamin gurus can help you much more.

Working on my labs lately and almost getting them where they need to be I have a few suggestions:

Cholesterol 110 (range 125-200)  Not concerned

Is that total cholesterol?  if yes - then you may have some issues with healing, depression , etc.  We need cholesterol to repair tissue, hormones, etc.  Not sure in your case how to raise it. Mine dropped to 100 at one point and it took me almost 12 months to get it up to 140... on red meat, liver, etc...

You mentioned B12 to be over 700... but when did you take the B12 last time before test?  less than a few days - may indicate that the test measured the B12 from the supplement and not what is really absorbed into your system.  I typically wait 5-7 days (without B12) to have the blood work.

also : MCV = 99.. that is borderline normal.. too high... indicates issues with B12, folic acid, or B6. Mine was running high (almost always****il recently when I started getting the B12 injections - once a week. After few months - it is finally normal... and my RBC is going up... (plus I was iron deficient - but that is different story)

(I used to take 5000+ mcg of B12 per day and was still deficient, now with weekly injections - finally it is good)

from http://www.drkaslow.com/html/blood_cell_counts.html

The number of red blood cells is decreased in:
  • Iron deficiency (should see a low MCV)
  • Vitamin B6, B12, and/or Folic Acid deficiency (should see a high MCV )
