Low Carb Fudge, family loves but I haven't tried

Ohhh that recipe sounds good too elixir!  The cream cheese only has 3 grams of protein, so Velveeta may have more.  I may have to give that a try eventually.  Although sweets really do not appeal to me, something about dark chocolate lately does....   even if I haven't ate any.  I made a pineapple cream cake for my family...totally sinful and high carb, and the smell of it made me sick!

The Now protein powder I tried is pea-based.  It comes in a big orange jug.  No luck there.  :(

I tried some egg based protein powder yesterday and thought it tasted like vanilla scrambled eggs. Not pleasant.

I bought a box of ChocoPerfection low carb chocolate bars. It took me three days to eat a bar, but just that little bit of chocolate was heavenly and didn't make me sick.

I'm looking forward to being able to eat protein bars.  I really liked the chocolate mint one they have at GHP.  The dietician has told me to avoid those for now...which is rather disappointing, but I don't want to get sick on those too.

These aren't protein bars. They're chocolate bars. I bought the milk chocolate, but I think next time I'll get dark chocolate w/raspberry. (I haven't eaten any of the GHP protein bars since the pre-surgical diet. My daughter has been eating the ones I have left before she goes to the gym. I'm glad she likes them as I'd hate to see them go to waste. My fave GHP supplement, which I still buy, is the hot cocoa w/marshmallows.)

Ohhh I thought they were protein bars.  The dark chocolate raspberry sounds like something I would love!

I was in the gas station the other day and saw a new version of Hershey bar.  It was whipped and had little air bubbles in it.  Needless to say I passed it up, but pre-op I would have been all over that too!  lol  I can admit chocolate was my downfall....and so was ice cream, and ....

I have found and LOVE the Clif brand protein bars... I think they're called Builders? I got a large pack of them at Sam's Club that had 18 bars, 9 chocolate and 9 peanut butter, for around $20. Not too expensive as protein bars go. The carb/protein balance is not as good as I would like, "only" 20g of protein per bar and 30g of carbs, but that just means that I have to limit myself to one a day (and I definitely don't eat one every day), and then I usually don't have a problem staying under 50g of carbs total.

I have found these are a lifesaver for me when I just can't stomach the thought of any more dense meat, or the smell of eggs is getting to me that day, etc. I basically use it as a meal replacement, and try to save that for my last meal of the day so that I know I've exhausted all my options before turning to something with such a high carb count. But I figure in the end, it's better for me to meet my protein goals each and every day than to obsess about a few extra grams of carbs... because Atkins sure didn't work for me before, if it had, I wouldn't have needed surgery!

Good luck finding something that works for you... it feels like the pits until you can start getting in the protein you need, then for me, it was like magic... I felt a million times better!

I do the super easy protein fudge that was posted a while back.

Microwave a stick of butter and 1 cup pb for 1 min, whisk. Put in 1/3 cream cheese block, whisk together, add 1 cup splenda and two scoops protein. I've heard of vanilla and chocolate, I use chocolate.

stir, put on wax paper in an 8x8 pan or really anything bigger would just be thinner.

I love it bc its so easy, no hard ingrediants, or measurements. Love it. Eat it often.

I searched the forum before I posted this one and saw the other recipe.  That sounds good too!  When I am able to get over the smell of protein powders that is a must try.  I have the recipe  bookmarked :)
