Just an aside...when I'm in a restaurant and a waitron refers to my party as "guys" or "you guys" I usually say "excuse me,  do I look like a guy to you?"  I can't stand that.  First of all I'm not a guy.  Second,  the waitron is not my friend and has not been invited to speak me in that type of casual way.

That's not nearly as irritating as when they assume I want to hear their life's story, or random ramblings about nothing. If I had wanted dinner conversation with a stranger, I'm sure there are escort services for that.

My latest gripe is when the checkout person at the supermarket feels it appropriate to try to discuss with me what and how I plan to cook with the various things I'm buying.

I am not interested in having a conversation with you...I'm interested in you doing your job quickly and efficiently and getting out of here as fast as possible.

I don't mind being grouped in as "guys." I call our daughter my little guy sometimes.

Apropos hormone dump: Assuming you're a male partner, make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that non-hormonal birth control is in place. Take responsibility for this. Pregnancy soon after WLS is a Very Bad Thing.

The hormone dump can make ANY type of hormone-based BC ineffective, NOT just the oral pills. Barrier time, folks. No one-timers, no partials, no "oopsies." And I don't care HOW much she says it's okay. It is NOT okay.

BTW, with hormone dump happening, you might get lucky and have the ******** lady on the planet, or she might find the mere thought of sex pukeworthy. Remember I said it's a rollercoaster ride?

No worries about pregnancy.  I'm the one who carries the babies so it's not an issue. At least with having just had a baby in December I can kind of sympathize with hormonal imbalances and mood swings.

She put up with my crap for 9 months of pregnancy and a year of fertility drugs before that. If I'm not understanding about this, she'll probably kill me in my sleep.

Okey dokey, that definitely makes the BC thing much easier :-D. And since there's a risk of murder involved, I'm sure you'll do beautifully :-p.

Excellent response EN!!  That's a keeper to save and repost.

OP: If it weren't for these vets, I would have also not focused on hydration when I got home. With their advice, I saved myself much grief.  I'm glad you are there to support your partner.

Hugs,
Ratkity
