If there is such a thing as "average weight loss"...
My weight loss was not average due to post op complications. Not only that I tended to lose weight in big chunks. Like 10-15 pounds in a week after not losing anything for a week or two before.
I lost 13 pounds prior to my surgery in August 09
At 3 months I lost about 30 pounds. I was also on Enteral feeding, all of which was being absorbed.
From months November 09 to April 2010 I lost about 80 pounds. I was allowed to eat, but I was throwing everything up and not really getting any nutrition at all.
From April 2010 to February 2011 I lost another 40 pounds. I was on TPN from April until the end of January 2011.
I have not lost anything since.
My total weight loss has been 146 pounds.

It was a rough journey, but one that I share because there are risks and complications to surgery and people need to know that things can happen. None-the-less, I am well and healed completely now and doing awesome. Though my road was rough I can now say that I would do it all over again, I mean, given I didn't know what would happen.
I was a virgin DS last July.

Honey, I'm almost five years out and my average weight loss STILL is over a pound a week. 240 pounds lost compared to 230 or so weeks postop.
Quit worrying about it so much.
But to settle your mind: 4 months postop I'd lost 100 pounds or 40% of my excess weight. One year out I'd lost 185 pounds or 77% of my excess weight. Lost 240 pounds or 100% of my excess weight at two years and two weeks out.
