I was searching for the DS wallet card that Diana had posted and although I found the link, it doesn't work anymore.  Does anyone have a new link that does work?

I thought I remember seeing a different one but this one works great!  Thanks a bunch!

Wow. This is a really good idea.  Does anyone wear a medical alert bracelet too?  Just curious.

I was going order one next week.  I'm torn between http://www.laurenshope.com/ and http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx

I'm thinking I can just get the tag from LaurensHope and make my own chain/bracelet but with something that fancy would an EMT know to look for it, which is why I like the Road ID

I wouldn't worry about it being too fancy...my husband is an EMT/firefighter and they would notice.  He was actually the one who said "you need to get a tag when you get this surgery". But I thought it may be a bit of overkill, but I do think it would be for the best.  I'm still pre-op, but I'm sure I'll get one.

HI ladies. Check out this thread from a few weeks ago about the medic alert. I'm sure I'll get one too--but what to say on the tag!?!?!  This link is pretty good:

That is a good thread.  I don't agree that medial alert bracelets aren't looked at 99% of the time though.  I'm sure training is different all over the country, and things are missed sometimes...but generally they notice the bracelets.

My concern is not so much about the first responders though. I'm more concerned about being in the ER and them not knowing.  The chances of this are slim, and the chance that the new anatomy would make a difference is an even lower chance....but I think because I'm finishing up nursing school I'm paranoid (probably for no reason though lol).

I totally agree with you--I think that if you're passed out or unable to speak for yourself, they'll probably look around to see if you're wearing something that could help explain.  Is it necessary, probably not. But who doesn't need a new bracelet?!?! LOL.  The ones from the lauren's hope website are beautiful. I think I'll probably get one that just says,
BPD Duodenal Switch
Modified stomach and
Intestinal Anatomy
Surgeon's Name
Surgeon's phone number

At least that way, bases are covered--just in case. I know the vets are probably thinking us newbies are crazy with this whole medic alert nonsense, but it makes me feel better.  After all, we will definitely be different from normies.
