Thank you!  All prayers very welcome :)  Between OH, my very large extended family, friends, etc, I must have at least 100 people praying for me.  Such a nice, warm feeling.

 Hey Lisey:

I just got back from Montana yesterday, and I got on OH this morning, and thought, "Oh - I haven't heard anything about her biopsy."    I had very limited access to the internet while I was away and only was able to check OH once.    I went back and back and back through posts and found this!

I'm so hopeful that you respond well to all treatments.   What will they involve?

Big freakin' props to you for being on top of things and insisting upon the proper diagnostic studies!!!!!

Thanks, Julie :)

I know that I will be getting ABVD chemotherapy.  I'm looking into enrolling in a clinical trial where they use that (which is standard tx for my stage) along with a new class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies - it has an antigen that specifically, and only, targets cancer cells and masses.  It can only adhere to cancer cells.  Once it does that, it release it's poison directly and only into the cancer cell, thereby not exposing your healthy cells to poison.  It was just approved for manufacturer for relapsed Hodgkin's with good results from those trials.  I'm really hoping to get into it!

I'm in  contact with the trial coordinator at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX right now.  We've emailed each other a couple of times & she said that it appears I would be a good candidate, not meet any of the exclusion criteria, but that they only admit people into the trial after an examination there.

I told her of the DS - about the fully functioning stomach/ pylorus so no food/meds restrictions, 1.5 cups food/meal, stable weight since Aug ****il past April - lost some) 2010, the common channel, and that I had a comprehensive vitamin panel drawn June 2010 which showed my A & zinc were a little low, but otherwise all else was in the normal to high range.

I don't *think* that it should exclude me, but since I would be paying for my trip down there and it will certainly show up as a dark limb on my CT scan & it's in my medical records, I might as well tell her upfront if they're going to exclude me over it.  WLSs are not on the exclusion list, but you never know.

I'm glad you are in touch with a major cancer research center.   My dad would have been dead seven years ago if he had not done the same, with University of Michigan Hospitals.   Do you know what phase clinical trial this is?    Once you are admitted into the trial, will they pay your expenses back and forth?    I was in a clinical trial once for Botox injections for my migraines, and they paid everything!

The medication was approved on 7/14/11 by the FDA for general manufacture for relapsed Hodgkin's lymph, with pretty good outcomes.  The trial I would be entering is for newly diagnosed & untreated HL patients.  I get the standard treatment anyway, and then they also give me the new drug so I figure it can only be an improvement in the odds.  The side effects that have been documented in their past trials are pretty minor - headaches, nausea, diarrhea.  They only pay for the new drug.  The standard treatment and scans for restaging are billed to my insurance company.  They provide housing once accepted, but do not cover actual travel costs.
