I'm trying to get the just of of the pre-op & post-op vitamin schedules. I looked over Vitalady's basic DS plan, and, after checking out local vite prices at several stores, I decided that VitaLady's plan is the best choice for me. Before I order any vitamins, I want to make sure I estimated correctly. You're the experts so please tell me if anything is incorrectly calculated. I apologize for another vitamin thread plaguing the board.

PRE-OP
Multi-Vitamin
Calcium Citrate w/ D 1,500 mg
Vitamin D-3 5,000 IU
Iron 6 tender wafers
Vitamin C < 4,000 mg daily

POST-OP

Vitamin A 25,000 IU 4 daily
Vitamin D-3 50,000 IU 1 daily
B-12 5,000 mcg 1 daily

Vitamin C 1,000 mg 3 daily
Vitamin E 1,000 mg 3 daily
Calcium Citrate 500 mg 6 daily
Tender Iron (Wafers) 150 mg 12 daily

Have you tried the Tender Iron wafers? You might want to buy the sample pack and test them to see if you can eat them before buying a whole bottle. They are 60mg per wafer like the capsule. I only take 5 capsules a day. I also only take 800IUs of the E.

Do you have the schedule to follow? Link: www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/ProgramDRNY_ERNY_BPDDS3- 2010.pdf

I was going off the schedule listed here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/3815623/Trying-to-Paste-VitaLadys-DS-Schedule/

It is a bit different than the one you posted. I see the pdf you sent was updated in 2010. Thanks for the information! I searched all over and never saw that one. :)

Are you sure the 500mg of calcium citrate SIX times a day is right?   I shoot for 1800 mg a day, not 3000.

And regarding the iron.  I take two capsules a day.  Not the tender iron, just her combo of iron/c.

I was looking at the old plan instead of the updated one. I'll change the info. Thanks! :)

Did you have any trouble getting the capsules down after surgery? I figured the wafers would be a bit easier, but if I don't have to taste nastiness, that's great too. :)

I'm behind Gina on the Iron wafers.  They're gross, and big, and 12 a day is a lot to make the min.  I use the Polysaccride (sp?) iron.  Two pills in the morning and I'm good.  I take proferrin too, but that's a personal preference.

Gross and big is no bueno! I'm going to order a sample pack to see if I think I can dig it. 12 a day is a lot to make minimum, especially if you're supposed to take them all at one time in the morning. Ick. I'll definitely check out the polysaccride capsules!

I think something is up with your vitamin E dosing...since it's usually measured in IUs.  I think most people take 400-800IU per day.

Calcium citrate: make sure the dose is correct.  500-600mg is usually 2 pills per dose.  I would shoot for at least 4 doses per day...5 is great!

I don't know much about the wafers, but I have heard they are not that tasty.  I would take 300 mg of elemental iron per day...if you get the tender iron capsules, that should be 5 of them, and they already have vitamin C added so you can knock some of the extra vit C down.

Please add vitamin K to this schedule.  It's a fat soluble vitamin and even though it doesn't get as much attention as vitamin D on this board, it's a common deficiency if you don't take any and very important for many body processes.
