OBAMACARE

I absolutely am grateful for COBRA... when my husband WAS out of work.. it allowed me to PAY for the insurance continuance that I CHOSE to pay.  It is not shoved on me, I choose it.  I want it so I pay for it.  I only need it for  2 months, not the extended longtime that several unemployed american need.  My husband did not just sit on unemployment and suck up all the "benis"  He went out and found a real job again.  Thank God.  If people are unhappy with their job or what their job offers go find another job, get more schooling to qualify for those jobs, work hard and pay for it.
Not that I owe you any comment on Fox news or any of the conservatist.  I am my own person and believe what I believe.  One thing is ... you must work for what you get.  you must keep working and putting away and preparing for a time when you aren't able to work anymore.  The whole government will take care of me mentality is, in my opinion, a very lazy, parasitic like, not contributing behavior and doesn't help or serve anyone but themself.   They would need to realize that nothing in this life is free, and someone has to pay for it.  That is why my first comment was as such.
And absolutely I was speaking from experience.  I lived it and my opinions are formed from what my life experiences have taught me.

A patient of mine is an encologist and he is the one who said, doctors and physicians are being paid significantly less now and  there is little money for further research.  If there is not financial rewards for going through 16 years of advanced schooling to be a specialist, it will entice very few people to join the ranks of being a doctor/ surgeon. yes there are a few people who love to help people, but schools will not be filled with great intelligence and skill if there is not compensation for all the hard work and schooling.

Seriously? What economy are you living in? Because I wouldn't mind living in that one. I was out of work for 4 months and I didn't qualify for unemployment or any other "benies" because, even though I was working on US military bases and for the US government, I was doing it outside the US. That was 4 months of not knowing when or if I was going to get a job. Four months of hoping I didn't get sick because I didn't have insurance. Four months when I still had to make my mortgage payments. Yeah! I would have loved to have been in the economy that you seem to think we are in.

My father got laid off a couple months ago after working his entire life from the time he was a teenager. He still has not found new employment that pffers benefits, despite applying (both online and in person) to countless jobs. He has no college education, and being nearly 60 years old, do you really think he needs to go back to school for more education in order to get a better job? Who will pay for that schooling? And why do my parents have insufficient savings? Oh, because he had to have emergency gall bladder surgery a couple years ago that cost them thousands of dollars out of pocket, despite having paid health insurance premiums their whole lives.

The amount he gets from unemployment is significantly less than he had been earning, and he now has an additional monthly expense of about $700 for his insurance under COBRA. So, he makes considerably less and has considerably higher monthly expenses. But, by all means, the lazy bum should just find a new job. After all, it's so easy to do. My father is obviously just going to "sit on unemployment and suck up all the "benis.""

Fuck you. Get back on your high ******g horse and try to find your way to lower-middle class reality.

I am so sorry to hear your father is out of work. It is happening to  a lot of people these days.  I guess people should have prepared when the economy was good instead of spending every paycheck.  Prepare for rainy days.  Yes life delivers challenges.  If we have prepared then you will be blessed with security.  If you haven't then I guess you have to make some very difficult decisions.  I too have experienced hardships, which makes me save my pennies now.  Learning from life lessons, is not the topic here, but unfortunately there are a many sad stories, ones that are desperate and challenging.  These are opportunities to turn to family and friends and seek  for others to help.  This offers opportunity for those who are doing okay to serve and help those they choose to help.  I am against the "turn to the government to help me", make all those tax payers pay for my well being and unpreparedness.  My question is why should I have to pay the money I set aside for my rainy day, jeopardizing my sacrifice, for your unpreparedness and shortsightedness.  I absolutely help people and donate to those whom I choose.  I shouldn't have to pay more "taxes" so someone else can determine who is eligible or entitled.  I worked hard for it and I should get the authority to deem who gets it and who doesn't.
This economy today is definitely considered a rainy day.  Our government doesn't have the money to pay everybody.  They have tried and we are 14 trillion dollars in debt.  You think OBAMACARE is gonna have money  for you?  Think again.

Your ignorance is truly astounding. I would elaborate, but I'd rather not waste my time on someone with such skewed ideals.

Spoken like a true ignorant person who has led such a life as to have had pennies to save - not everyone has that much, regardless of the state of the economy as a whole. Your perceptions are skewed; not everyone needing help is a parasite or feels "entitled."  I can't continue any discussion with someone who clearly believes my parents, who have been working and paying taxes for at least 40 years each, are shortsighted and lazy and essentially expecting handouts. So, like I said before, get back on your high horse, and I honestly don't give **** where you go, as long as it has nothing to do with me or mine.

I wish this asshole about two years of unemployment with no way to pay for insurance, and an expensive but temporary medical problem that must be treated. Happy ******g American Way. Get sick and go bankrupt, but socialized medicine is da debbil. Don't bother considering that socialized medicine is not gonna happen in the USA and that "Obamacare" isn't about socialized medicine.

Healthcare should NOT be dependent on your income or your ablity to get benefits.

President Obama's first nominee for Secretary of HHSC was Senator Tom Daschle.  Now many probably didn't read Senator Daschle's book but it is very enlightening on limited resources and the government making determinations on who and what to cover.

Very enlightening and he was the man who was a strong proponent for healthcare reform and worked behind the scenes on much of the reform.  He is a strong advocate for universal healthcare but with that he understands limited resources which means rationing.

Had his nasty habit of not paying his taxes not come to light he would be leader of HHSC which sets policy for Medicare/Medicaid.  Medicare is the largest insurance company in the country and as such the other insurance companies follow suit.

Rationing - limited resources - universal healthcare.

Thank goodness he was a tax thief
