Humiliation just solidified my decision
I absolutely do! I was just saying, I'm going to have this surgery, ROCK this tool and go back to Cedar Point and ride every ride there. Then, if I see that guy again (his face is etched in my memory forever) I'll punch him. Okay, so maybe I won't punch him, but I'm going to give him a piece of my mind. Although my wonderful husband said "sweetie, he is a full grown man who works full time clicking people in a ride at Cedar Point. Life is punishing him enough". :)
Of course, that's a joke, any job in this economy is honorable in my opinion. But that guy was a JACKA$$. Grrr...
And PS With America looking like it does, WHY do they make rides without seats that heavier people can sit in? My husband is about 30lbs overweight but is muscular. We went to Universal and he went on the Harry Potter ride, which is brand new. They couldn't click the restraint so they made him get up to sit in the "larger seats". Thank GOD I was already in one! Imagine, 30lbs overweight! Who isn't 30lbs overweight? Except you DSers!!!

I'm SO sorry this happened to you! I just have to say though, I live in NW Ohio (and used to live in MI), so I grew up going to Cedar Point all the time and those damn seats are meant for someone about 110 lbs! That doesn't mean it is any less awful that this happened, I just think the size of the seats on a few of the rides is just rediculous.
Btw...good for you having the courage to ride dragster!! I've only been there once since it was put in, but I was too chicken to ride it! I just sat and watched that thing take off with my jaw on the ground lol.

oh you poor dear, well I think we all have situations like this.....when we let a person make us feel so bad, gosh humiliation, and embarrassment, I understand, just try to remember this is just a temp. state, with the DS that click will close easily in a short amount of time, and eating bacon, can't go wrong with that......
There's absolutely no need for that!
you need to immediately send a letter, phone call, e-mail, whatever to the management of the company that runs Cedar Point to complain of that issue. OK, so maybe you were too large to comfortably (or more importantly - SAFELY) fit in the seat... no reason to be treated that way though.
Good luck

Ya, same exact thing happened to me at Silverwood in Idaho. The different part is that the guy buckling me in saw it as a fun challenge. I was ready to just get out and he said, "No way sister! You're riding this ride, I'll make it work." So he shoved and pulled. I sucked in and helped push my fat. People watched and gawked and laughed. Got the belt and bar done though. I didn't ride that ride again. Felt like hiding in a hole, but I walked on knowing that I'd never see any of those people again.
Going to an amusement park after my surgery is one of my goals.

This kind of stuff happens all the time. It's so awful and yet it's totally looked over or even allowed. I know someone who is African American and during one of the rides he was on, he had it being video taped. During the taping, the guy who was running the ride was saying all sorts of racial slurs. My friend ended up sewing Six Flags for it. Seriously, if I were in your shoes, I'd consider talking to management--at the bare minimum. Someone needs to step up and let them know they can't treat people that way. You deserve more--we all do.
But, I'm glad you and I are in the same boat at the same time. It seems we reached our breaking points and our decisions about which surgery to have at exactly the same time.
Now, lets just get over to the dark side ASAP.

A week before my surgery last year, I spent a week at the beach. I was horrified when I went to sit down in my personal beach chair and I no longer fit in it. I had to sit on a towel like a beached whale and endured humiliating 'poor you' looks from my mother and sister.
This year I returned to that same beach for my surgiversary and my chair was so roomy, I cried in thanksgiving for my DS!
What a wonderful year it has been :)
The very best of luck to you,
~GG

Oh Lynmarie...I completely UNDERSTAND where you are coming from. I am also a huge fan of rollercoasters, but I know that I can no longer fit in the seats.
My family and I just went to Michigan's Adventure and I was unable to ride all but 1 of the rollercoasters. My daughters FIRST rollercoaster ride should have been with ME and not her Aunt who went in my place. I held back tears the entire day, because my children begged me to ride rides with them, but I couldn't. I your pain, I know that humilation.
However, I agree with what some of the others have said about making a complaint. It was rude and thoughtless and they need to be made aware of his comments.
Best wishes and BIG hugs!
