Pre-op and post-op question

I'm only 7 months out and the BMs have gotten much better over time, but they're still much stinkier than pre-op (probably because there's more bile in there now). I have a small spray bottle of orange oil air freshener that  carry in my purse in case I need to use a public rest room without killing anyone within a 15 foot radius. At this point they're solid, but ripe. If I eat more carbs than I should I noticed the smell is much less, but since I'm still in weight loss mode I'm trying to lean towards high-fat, high protein and low carb.

I'm also in agreement with NYB that I'd do it all over again, despite the atom bombs I occasionally leave behind. In my case it's a minor inconvenience I can easily live with, as much as my husband complains :)

In those early months liquid in liquid out. NEVER trust a fart! Now, I'm 10 months and I go a couple times a day. Normal poo most of the time. Stinks worse but hey, **** stinks, I don't care who ya are! I personally have to take Mag Oxide twice a day and eat extra fatty food to be able to go normal. That said, if I eat lots of carbs or white flour I have horrid gas and watery stool. Nothing I can't control. Is it worth it, HELL YEAH!! The best trade off I can imagine. Everyone farts, everyone ****s, not everyone loses 120lbs in 10 months, eats fats, meats, chesses and all kinds of yummy foods, loses all co morbs requiring meds. The list of benefits goes on and on. This is my experience and MY opinion, YMMV!!

I love my DS!!

wow congrats, your surgery is right around the corner.  I am one of those that has never had diarrhea, (beyone the first week PO)  I actually take magnesium, but pre op I had awful constipation so to be normal is great. there are a few DSers here that actually have constipation with the DS so we are all different.   I have about 1-2 BMs a  day, usually within 1 hr when I wake up.  I was really worried about the BMs I heard about pre op, everyone is different, your cc  lenght will make a difference  too, and I believe Dr G uses 100cc.

 Hey...thanks so much!
The difference in BM's is really dramatic from diarrhea multiple times a day to constipation!  Can't wait to see where I end up on the spectrum!!!   I hope I am like you..your BM schedule sounds great!
Do you think the magnesium might play a role?  I am taking notes for when or if I have any issues post op so thanks for your input.  All this information is so valuable to me.  So thanks again!  Can't wait for August 25!!
