Thanks for that Julie....I am experiencing a bit of regain (about 8lbs and I'm determined it does not escalate), not sure how much it has to do with poor food choices and how much of it is due to my current Thyroid issues but it has certainly bolstered my resolve to get back on the straight and narrow with my low carbing and walking. I even ordered a Zumba DVd set to help me get some more exercise.....
I am only going to weigh in once a week as I still find an unfavorable reading can upset me for the whole day.....

It seems as though everyone else found this post helpful too!!
Thanks for sharing sweetie xx

Yorkie - I noticed that you mentioned on an earlier post that you were having a water retention problem.    I spent last week HORRIBLY swollen.....my ankles and feet hadn't been that swollen since I was nine months pregnant.    I had gained ten pounds, and I knew it was all water, because even my eyes were puffy, but it still freaked me out, because I've had some ongoing issues with this in the past.   I pee'd and pee'd for about three days straight, and now the swelling is gone.   My joints also ached badly during that week.    When I was in Wisconsin taking a graduate course, I ate a LOT Of gluten.    Much more than I normally ever eat.  We were fed set meals at this conference, and they contained a lot of wheat products.     I'm wondering if that caused it.   A week of eating almost completely gluten free seems to have done the trick.   Could have been a hormonal thing too - just not sure.   But at any rate, it's gone.    Can you think of anything besides the thyroid issue that might be triggering it?   Could it be gluten for you?

 Julie,
Sometimes the heat and humidity can make me swell as you described, especially if I'm sitting for a while in a plane or car.

Mine is definitely positional.....but sometimes it happens in the dead of winter.    My doc thinks I have something called idiopathic peripheral edema.    Yeah, I'm an idiopath for sure.

Hey sweetie,
it could well be to do all the crap I ate while in the UK.I noticed that I was kinda puffy while i was there. I went out one night and the straps of my sandals left indents when i got home which was kinda unusual for me. Even my eyes were a bit puffy, so you may ahve hit the nail on the head honey!!

I just ate whatever I wanted for 3 weeks...which did include alot of bread, cookies, pastry etc...so that could well be the case with me.
Anyway, I am doing my best to get back on the low carb bandwagon, eating my usual stuff, eggs, meat, cheese, iced coffee with HC, protein shakes, some dreamfields at dinner, low carb wraps. I have nixed the bacon and sausage in case they were exacerbating the fluid retention.
I will weigh in again on saturday so I guess I'll see then.

hanks so much for pointing that out!! Oh and when ya gonna get that little tush back down to florida?????? I got that spare room ready for ya both!!
Hugs,
Yorkie xx

Awesome post Julie! I will be 3 years out in October.  I barely have gas anymore because I instinctively know when to add more fat and when to stay away from the flours etc.  My poops tell me how I am doing with my eating. It really is jsut my normal life now. I still eat the heck out of the Cheddar Ruffles at times. I am going to make more of an effort to get the fats from healthier sources but my DS is workin like a charm for me. I have never gained more than 8lbs (one time) and lost it in 2 weeks rather easily. I am STILL losing. Just got to 169 (from 322) and my new goal (doc goal was 180) is 155-160. I am 5'6"

I never did believe the window was only good for a short time. It is a tool. It works when you use it correctly.

Slightly off topic but thought you would be happy to hear.. no kidney stone episodes since I started making sure to take my calcium with food. Not a single stone. woot!

Nina ~~   BMI was 52, now 26.1 (normal). From size 26/28 to 10 pants and 2xl/24 shirt to xs/sm shirts. SW/CW/surgean Goal/mynew GW 322/161/180/165     I Heart MY DS!!
