SO OT _ Going to see a medium on Friday

Hey GUys,
I am going to see a medium on Friday. Have any of you ever seen one, any tips on getting the most out of the session, how to prepare mentally. Have any of you had any positive experiences??

I understand that this may go against ome of your beliefs, if this is the case, please don't participate in this thread. If you are really "anti" please keep negativity to yourself and don't post, I am interested in positivity and objective opinions.

Ask if you can record the session. A small recorder will help you remember what was said. It will also help you to determine if the medium is channeling or is leading you. It can be a dispassionate tool.

A small recorder isn't expensive and can be very discreet. But always ask first, it is only polite.

That's very intersting Christine, as the medium advised me to bring a tape recorder, she said sometimes it helps to play back the session at a later date. I am going to get myself one, I guess it will come in handy for business at some point anyway!

There is an App. for that.  I think "I' phone and Windows phones have an App for making your smart phone a recorder.  I haven't tried it yet.  Good luck!

I went once.  Had a good experience.  I know a few people that have gone.  I personally am skeptical.  While I am sure there are people with this ability, I think alot of people that are doing it are just doing cold readings and taking advantage.  So I prepared myself by reminding myself to keep an open mind.  I believe the man I went to see had real abilities.  I would go again to see him.  I hope you have a wonderful time and that someone come through for you.

Hi Yorkie!  I have been to a couple of mediums.  I went to college near Lily Dale which is a huge psychic community.  The worst reading I had was by the "famous" Sylvia Browne.  I think she is a fraud.  I think there are some people with true abilities and lots of frauds.  Referrals are a good way to find one that is the real deal.
The best thing to do is let them do the talking.  It's hard not to be drawn in to spilling a lot of info on yourself which is doing their jobs for them. 
My friend went to a psychic and thought it was spot on.  I went to the same one and it couldn't have been less accurate! I wanted so badly to connect with my recently deceased mom and she didn't even pick up on that my mom was gone.   So, who knows.  I think some meditation beforehand helps and to not have too many expectations.  Have fun and don't take it too seriously.  If you are really really hoping for something, odds are you will may be disappointed.   Tape it or take notes if you can because it will be hard to remember things once you leave.   
I saw Allison Dubois live and I felt she was the real deal.  Let us know how it goes.

My family goes to Lily Dale frequently.  They are actually planning on going next month. 

I loved going there.  It's such a cute and peaceful place.  I should go there next time I visit the family in Buffalo. 

I went with my adult niece a few years back....   the medium told me she wasn't getting/seeing/feeling anything....  really drew a blank!   I appreciated her honesty....she surmised that my skepticism might have been 'blocking' things....  HOWEVER, my twenty something niece was told she was NOT going to get her heart's desire for something she longed for....but not to give up hope.  she would eventually, within a short time, find a way to have it....   and it would be a life changing experience for her....  (something like that)....  niece asked if this was a romantic/guy thing, and the medium said no....    Shortly after, she heard from Notre Dame that she wasn't admitted  (it was her dream school)....  she went to another college, worked like hell, applied as a transfer (and ND takes FEW transfers) and got in.  From the minute she registered, she drank the "Irish Kool Aid".  She lived, breathed and slept the ND credo.  It has opened doors for her in friendships, post graduate travel, law school, internships, etc.....   She is an active alumni, and thinks it was the best fit for her of any college experience!  It wasn't until she was there for a year that we remembered the mediums message, and it fit!  Have fun with it.....I hope you enjoy the experience.   Mary C

Ohh, one of my favorite topics!  My mom practices and I believe she is  awesome with what she does.  I have been told by a few of the elders that I carry the same gifts but they come with such a burden I've seldom use what I know I have.  I've frequently predicted births, pregnancies, deaths and have felt the deceased presence.  I normally keep what I know to myself.  This is particularly hard when dealing with loved ones. 

Go with an open mind.  There are plenty of frauds trying to make a quick buck but don't assume everyone is a fraud.  Some people are harder to read than others.  Ask if you can take notes or record the session, most mediums will allow it and encourage it.  Just remember, leave your expectations at the door, you'll find the whole experience much more enjoyable.   I also suggest meditating the night before to clear your mind.
