Thyroid issues??
Kirmy and Yorkie,
I think you may have the TSH interpretation backwards. People with underactive thyroid have HIGH TSH. Being on the low end of the normal scale in TSH is what people with underactive thyroid dream of. Aiming for a higher TSH number would make fatigue, difficult weight loss, etc. worse.

Yup! I am miserable if I'm hyperthyroid. I am neurotic, fatigued and going bald!!! I also have heart palpitations and very poor sleeping patterns. I also pee every hour of the bloody day and end up looking like a crispy critter. I'm actually happier hypothyroid simply because I can sleep !!! Luckily for me my thyroid has been very well behaved for the last few months. Prior my TSH was through the roof again. After a truck load of thyroxine later I'm cruising the high end of normal and feeling well finally. Oh and my throat doesn't look like a would be goitre!!
Thanks for all the great information and advice you guys, I am going to go back and see the GP and get a referral to an endo wheni get back to the uk in 5 weeks. In the meantime I am going to get one of those Thyroid support supplements - can't hurt I guess!!
I'll keep you all informed on my progeress
