Magnesium and Leg Cramps
I want my potassium more like 4-i****ake 4 per day, with the calc and mag groups. Don takes one and holds the same levels I get.
Yes, mag pills don't change the mag levels, UNLESS you are low, then they seem to. Like you, mine was 2.2 with no extra mag and it's 2.2 with 2 mag ox and GOBS of mag cit. No change. I adjust my mag cit to my day. I take 6 daily but if I am walking more or wearing heels (even briefly) I take extra.
And when I expect trouble, I put the Leg Cramp pills on the counter so I can find them at night if I must.
The mag changed my cramping from 3 times per night to more like 3 times per month. I suspect the water intake may be the decider there.

4 is a far cry from rx level.
Rx is about patent, not potent, USUALLY, in the vites and minerals. but this is a case where rx does mean way more potent.

I'm a newbie and honestly know nothing compared to you guys. I actually bookmark posts like these so that If I ever run into these problems I have answers to start with.
But as a normi I have a lot of experience with leg cramps. Not sure if its the same thing or if my info helps at all but it's worth a shot right?
I've had leg cramps my whole life. I might have always been a chunker but my calves were always toned and beautiful. I've always been a walker too. When my legs cramp up I've always noticed I was normally dehydrated a bit and that my potassium was low. It took 3 doctors to figure this out. So I'd bulk up on water and foods like bananas and spinach (heres a small list http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1740.html ). It almost always worked in about a day.
Hope that helps even if just a little.
