I'm a dingbat and almost missed 3 boxes of clothes!

Yep, you heard me, dingbat!

Couple years ago I sorted all my clothes by size in boxes. Those clothes I always knew I'd fit again. Then there were clothes my much smaller sister had shrunken out of. Knowing I was gonna fight the fight for my DS, I took all she had to offer, boxed those up by size. Then a lovely elderly man brought me 4 large boxes of clothes ranging in sizes when I was 6 weeks post op. I picked through them and kept what I thought I "may" wear "someday"! Well today was that day. I needed some space in my bedroom and thought about rearranging these boxes. Then I noticed that the size on the box said 18. Huh... I can wear 18's even some 16's. I looked through these boxes. I found 7 pair of jeans, NICE jeans. They fit my waist and my legs. That has NEVER happened!! Loads of shirts. Several shorts. I have 2 small, very small, boxes of clothes to store away for later. Then some smaller clothes I didn't need to try. Now I need to go through my closet and get rid of the stuff thats, Here it is, toooooo BIG!!!!!!! This, and a new, very different hair cut has made me feel so good! I will have to pic out an outfit of these "fitted" jeans, a shirt and my new hair and post a pic. Soon! Just had to share this with you guys. And these jeans looked sooooo small. I was surprised with EACH pair. These were my tiny sister's largest pants. YAY me!! YAY to having my very own DS after a long long wait! Don't give up, it's so worth the fight and the wait! HUGS

Cheers, and I salute you, sister!

I have some old things that have elastic that now crackles/has lost the ability to expand and contract, and I will have to decide if they are worth the work it would take to put in new elastic.

 Thanks!

I hear ya on the elastic stuff. I tossed mine that did that. I thought, what the hell. I don't need them and soon they'll be too big so they're gone!! LOL

 Ruby,
Congrats on the new you! It always feels great to find you can wear a smaller size than you thought, and Jeans that fit both waist and hips/legs...WOW!! That NEVER happens!, at least not for me ( very large bottom/legs compared to waist.)
I just did, sort of the same thing recently.  I went through ALL the clothes in my closet (Walk in) and many bags, a friend brought for my daughter to sift through.  After having now lost over 100lbs from my highest weight I was able to fit things I haven't seen in quite some time!
I also, for the first time, got rid of perfectly good clothes!!!  You see, until now, when I've dieted and shrunken out of clothes, I've always just packed them away. Knowing how expensive clothes are for a person of size, and the odds being that I would probably grow back into them, I just couldn't get rid of them.  Well that all changed this week.  I gave TWELVE yard bags full of "too big" clothes away this week!!! I knew that this time, thanks to my, Long awaited DS (18+ years of fighting for WLS), I would NEVER be those sizes again!!! What a great feeling.  I have a still long journey ahead but thanks to my DS and the support and encouragement i get here, I feel like it is achievable for the first time.

Thank you to all you wonderful people who pay it forward everyday!!!! I hope that some day I will be one of you that has the knowledge and courage to help someone like me in the future.

I have been giving clothes away since November. I got a huge box right now and when I'm done on here I'm going though my closet and getting out all my bigger stuff, and stuff I never wear to make room for these "new" clothes! My husband loves the space that was taken up by those boxes. Twelve bags, wow! Oh, and I had clothes from 10 years ago and they are marked 20 but they fit like a 16 or 18 that's made now. Vanity sizing!! LOL! That's ok. 16/18 sounds better to me anywho!
