The potato chip diet
Okay, sweet Jojo - what turnip truck did you just fall off of?
Didn't you ever read the DS rules? Pork rinds are 0 carbs! I've never been a huge pork rind fan, but they are fantastic dipped in french onion dip. Just buy a carton of sour cream, mix in a package of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix and enjoy! I also make what my daughter calls "pork rind elephant ears." Heat pork rinds up in the microwave, pour melted butter over the heated pork rinds (it's cool - they'll sizzle) then sprinkle a mixture of splenda and cinnamon over them. They are, unbelieveably, pretty darn good.
You're also supposed to be able to use them as breading and crushed in things like meatballs. Haven't tried them that way yet, but if you're dedicated to low-carbing, you might want to give that a try.
Also, if you want to kick up the pork-o-meter a notch, packaged pork cracklins' are the bomb too.

I was eating so well for the last several months ...but I was stuck in the 340's for over a year...I would dip into the 330's for a day an then boomerang right back into the high 340's the next...5-10 pounds and I would spend a month losing the same weight over and over.
I started eating crap last Thursday(regular soda, cheetos, potato chips and ice cream) and I have been dropping a pound a day since....I'm not gorging on it...but I shouldn't be losing at this pace ....not sure if I want to stop just quite yet either...I am kind of hoping I reset my 'stuck spot' 20-30 pounds lighter. Not without consequences though..I feel like crap, I feel greasy, I feel bloated, I feel like I have cement filled pringles cans(the tall ones) stuck in my digestive tract, yet I have an extra 2 inches between me and the steering wheel that wasn't there last week, I have to decide between buying a belt or smaller pants...I have no idea what's going on. Oh yeah I am PMS'ing too which normally means an extra 5-7 on the scale until day 2 or 3 of my period. ughhh.

I admire that you can do this, I found that the Ice Cream that is richer in fat sits better. There is an Ice Cream here that's called "Play Dough" and OH MY!! Its my daughters favorite and all the kids in the hood come over for a cone in the evning, but its so yummy, I limit myself to a small scoop and thats ONLY if I get in my protein.
Your lucky at how you can eat, and I hope to reach goal, and stay there, I'm not happy where I'm atright now, but I'll get there.

Great thread! Great pre-op advice and hope.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can enjoy a small helping of Ben & Jerry's post-op once I hit my target. And I completely understand what you mean, how we don't notice our weight fluxuations when we're SMO/MO. I remember losing 60lbs in my early 20s, after a bad break up, and if it weren't for a friend's mom making a comment, I wonder if i would have even noticed. Baggy clothing with elastic waistbands fit, even after major changes to bodies.
Thanks for sharing the good news that potato chips and good ice cream don't have to be ruled out forever! :)

Well, and that's the thing. I hesitated to post this for the longest time because 1) I don't wan't people to think I'm giving them permission to eat this way, because it really IS a your results may vary kind of thing and then all of a sudden we have a new crop of post-ops, saying, "But Julie eats a million potato chips a week, and therefore, I can too! Then they'll all blame me for their lack of weight loss, LOL. . 2) I DO feel guilty that I seem to be able to eat (for now!) this way and maintain; and 3) I don't want people to think I'm a reckless binge eater (which, sad to say, I still am).
I hope people didn't take this to be a bragging post - it's not. My intention was really to see if potato chips and ice cream, because of their high fat content, seem to not affect us weight wise. I know that some things do. I had the stomach flu a couple of years back and ate nothing but rice for four days. It just seemed to be the only thing that didn't give me awful abdominal cramps and diarrhea. I gained four pounds!

I just broke out of a 3-4 week stall, and I was curious to see if carbing out would do anything to make that stall budge :)
Over the course of experimenting I found I'm able to tolerate (without gas or diharrea) the following carby things at 6 months out:
Pasta
White Rice
Popcorn
Corn Chips
White flour tortillas
Good quality ice cream (Ronnybrook- GOOD stuff)
Chips
French Bread
Chocolate Croissants
Peach & Strawberry Crumble (home made, so not too much sugar in it)
I've actually embarassed that I've eaten all this stuff over the course of a couple weeks. I've never eaten so much "crap" before...
PS- this is after protein of course, but this did break my stall, go figure!
