Broken foot!

I broke the 4th & 5th metatarpels of my left foot yesterday, OMGosh, what pain!  I will find out Monday what/how they are going to treat it when I go to the ortho's.  The ER just put a weird shoe on it for now and sent me home with crutches.

Will this affect my surgery August 17th?  Lord I hope not, I've already waited forever for the surgery.

Prayers and critter swinging is appreciated!

WHAT HAPPENED????  OMG how horrible.  I have to say that a fracture is my biggest nightmare.  Huge.  Since I live alone I would be so SCREWED.

I am concerned about your surgery because (not sure if all surgeon's do this or just some) use a tilt table where you are basically standing for part of the surgery.  People have come out of surgey with severe foot pain from their foot not being properly placed during the standing part of the surgery.

Call Dr Inman's office once you know how your fractures are going to be treated.

And you might want to ask the vites and supplements experts what you can do to promote bone healing.

SO sorry this happened.

Thanks Becky, I appreciate you so very much!

That was my concern, too, was the tilt table. This really has me concerned.  Once I find out my treatment plan Monday, I'll call Dr. Inman's office immediately.

Good idea about the vites and supplements experts, you're just awesome!

Again, thank you!

I forgot to tell you what happened.

I was carrying my granddaughter and stepped wrong off of one of those concrete parking bumpers.  I started to fall and readjusted my step to not fall with her.  I knew I had done something bad immediately......OMGosh, the pain was horrible!

Didn't drop her or fall all the way, but did myself some serious damage!

broken bones this close to your surgery...I would call your surgeon on monday as ortho issues (the healing of)  can  increase your chances for DVTs and subsequent PEs, and see if the surgeon has any worries, usually they pre treat you with some form of heparin before you go into the OR and while you are an inpatient, and if necessary a RX to take injections at home, better to be safe than sorry......

I will call my surgeon Monday  to see what they want to do.

No real supplement advice. Just wanted to say I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope it doesn't effect how soon you get your DS. You've got 2 months to heal, so heal away and good luck.
