Joining the ranks of the anemic.
Well, it took a while, but my ferritin finally plummeted and my iron and TIBC are on the way down. Ferritin went from middle of normal range in January to a few points into low now (don't have the numbers on hand). Iron and TIBC are sagging slowly.
I'm just going to go straight to an infusion and not fart around with miscellaneous oral forms. I've taken MANY different kinds over the years, back when I bled like a stuck pig most of the time from the female issues, and they all tore me up like crazy.
My damn D fell off the planet too. Was never wonderful, though I brought it up from single digits to mid 40's (and brought PTH from 80's to 40's) with megadose D3. Went from 43 to 20 *snarl*. So I'm gonna look at a D injection next.
Happily, a couple phone calls to Montana docs turned up an internal medicine practice that is happy to see me and has no qualms about treating this stuff and almost instantaneous appointments. Have my initial visit on the way from the airport on Monday! Doc's jaw dropped on the phone when I said I'd be armed with a spreadsheet of almost five years' worth of lab info, my op report, a summary of my medical history and all the information on the DS he could ever possibly want to know

Good luck, EN....glad you found a doc who will work with you out in Big Sky Country.
I agree with you about infusions. Even though I've had a few bumpy experiences with them, I am convinced they are the only way to get my iron up there without competing with my fragile calcium/D levels.

I was SO happy to connect with this practice. Who knows, maybe this doc will actually have some useful input as well. Hope springs eternal :-). Furthermore, the quicker I get a load of iron in there, the more energy I'll have to run around and have FUN in the all too brief Big Sky summer!
Oh yeah, my protein related levels are down half a point and a point, respectively, as well. So I'm grumblingly stocking up on the supplements. At least Vitamin Shoppe has a marvelous sale on the Isopure RTDs--60% off through end of June and free shipping on orders over $25. And I just got a GNC coupon in the mail for $10 off $10 or more, plus I get beautiful discounts at the military installation store.

Good on you love. May as well not **** about and go straight for the fixer.
Like a perverted broken record....why not try rectal dosing for full absorption. If you can get them in capsules then they will dissolve up your bum no worries and you'll absorb 100% of the dose as compared to variable percentiles (often 25-60% well it is a ball park and varies widely from drug to drug) orally. Just say'n.....like a weird broken record....
