OT, but ya'll are knowledgeable about alot of stuff...
I had an event to go to today. It was an SCA University which is basically college about the Middle Ages. It was from 8am to 6pm and involved a lot of walking to and from classes and sitting for about 7 hour-long classes. When I got home and changed into mundane clothes, I saw that my ankles were swollen! I mean about twice their normal size. I have never had swollen ankles so it kind of scared me. I have diabetes and every time I see my PCP, he checks my ankles for swelling ( I've never asked him why ). Is this something alarming for a diabetic? Should I be worried?
I googled it and things like liver failure, heart failure, dehydration, and other things. I had a hreat catch about 1-2 months ago in preparation for the DS surgery. Got a clean bill of thearthe for my heart, I doubt its liver failure becasue no jaundice. I guess I will just elevathen and see if it works. Thanks to the above posters. They gave me great advise.
Thank you
Thank you
It's called sitting in one position for too long in hot weather, possibly in a chair that impaired your circulation more than the chairs you usually use. You might also have been a bit dehydrated, which causes swelling like that in a lot of people as your body holds on to fluids.
One of the reasons your doc checks for swelling in your ankles is because it's a quick and simple way for him/her to "wonder" about your heart function and circulation. There should also be a look at your feet for wounds, discolorations or other changes.
