Your story is such an important reminder that not all DS'es are a trip down rainbow road...and I'm so sorry you had to travel that path, but very happy that you've reconciled all you've been through and are still standing tall and lean! You look beautifully radiant... just look at 'dem bones!

happy surgiversary, you are a survivor and did the hard work to get where you are today!
congrats!

and it does not need to be rainbows and sparklers only on this site.

your journey is just that yours, you do not have to justify yourself to any of us!!
Gratitude is my attitude

when people ask me if i had to do it over again, i always pause and think.

i also had many complications post surgery. an instant wound infection so the dr. had to reopen me and attached a wound vac leaving my incision open for many weeks and stayed hooked to that machine. then a sepsis infection which could have taken my life. then a hole in my stomach (staple failure) and dr.had to insert a stent inside for the hole to heal which had me vomiting hourly for  weeks. then while in hospital i got another serious sepsis infection again! mind you, i was hooked up to tpn for weeks and was hospitalized for the entire time. i came home on the tpn and wound vac till the hole in my stomach healed and the stent could be removed...soooo i think the entire hospital stay was 5 weeks post surgery and sent home with the tpn and wound vac and stent for another 4 weeks! Agggggg!

would i do it again? my answer would be yes. as an obese 266 woman who failed at every diet under every diet under the sun, my ds got me to my goal weight of 125 (and sometimes even a little under)! it has been almost 6 years. i only wish is that i could have been informed nutritionally so i did not have my malnutrition crash 5 years out. now that i am regaining strength (since July) my hope is that in the next couple of months i will have pulled out of this phase and into a healthier ds life.

God has been faithful and has watched over me during all of this! I have to give credit to Him!

BTW, i did have a tummy tuck and even with that i got a mrsa infection in my wound and had to go daily for iv antiobiotics for a month!

eeeeks....

in the end, i love grabbing a size small, i love my size 4 skinny jeans, and enjoy looking in the mirror :)

Godspeed, my friend :)
