Girl you are so strong! Thank you for sharing your story with all of us, pre and post op. Everyone needs to know that things happen. Some worse the others and it's not the norm but it can and does happen. I think my inflamed bowel was way worse pain then the DS itself matter of fact the worst pain ever. I too, didn't think it could happen to me so it was a BIG wake up call. Life happens and we don't get to pick what or who, it just is!

So glad that you are doing well now. You look so healthy, happy and totally freakin HAWT!! So happy for you! Congrats!!

Hey, lady!  You're right, Scoob, we don't get to pick what's in the script of life.  I'm sorry to hear about your inflamed bowel.  I know that's gotta hurt!  And it's hard to focus and advocate and strategize when you're in pain.  I hope things are better for you.

HAWT--as we say at church, I receive!   Thanks so much.

As a Pre-Op I LOVE and Thank you for your post!  It's refreshing to see that 1. it is completly possible (and likely) that I can have post-op problems, 2. that just because there are post-op problems doesnt mean it's the end of the world.

I love your enthusiasm to still educate and promote the DS despite any problems you had.
I love that you used my surgeon so I can renforce to myself that he is not god.

Oh, and you look FABULOUS!

Thank you for sharing!

Hey there, Vanishing Mom.  I'm glad you got to read this pre-op.

About your surgeon:  he's not God for sure, but he's got a good in with Him.    He took superb care of me when I was in critical condition after surgery.  He was honest with my husband and told him that he didn't know what happened.  My surgery was textbook, but my recovery was a nightmare and they couldn't make the connection. But Dr G was on the case, in my face every morning first thing and blowing up the nurse's station all night checking on me, even after he had turned my care over to an official cardiovascular medical team.  He called my family in to my bedside when things took a turn for the worst.  He watches my blood work like a hawk from a state away--much better than my PCP who I am firing today.  It was Dr. G who called me and emailed me immediately when he got my 6 month blood work and told me I was in malnutrition and that I had to go on TPN stat.  I love him, and you will, too.  You're in great hands!

I, too, thank you for your upfront and candid post.  It's important for us preops to be aware of what could lie ahead for us.  As much as we want to believe it won't happen to us, it just might.

I am fearful of having complications, so am thankful to know that there are others out there who would help me through it if i do, especially men/women of God who know how to use prayer and faith to get us through.

You are a beautiful woman, be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished!  We are all very proud of you!

I'm humbled by you guys.  Thanks so much for your kind words.  I'm really hoping that pre-ops will read it and it will help them get prepared mentally for what may happen.  I'm hoping post-op folks will feel validation if they're having side effects that no one else seems to be experiencing.  We're all here for each other.

You look absolutely stunning darling!!

I know you've been thru hell and back but at least you have something to show for it...

Thanks for being so honest in your update - it will open many pre-op's eyes that there are complications for any type of WLS not just the DS.

Keep rockin' it girlie and stay healthy!
