I'm ready to join ya'll on the losers bench.
I'm ready to walk around the block without gasping for breath.
I'm ready to look in the mirror and not feel disgusted.
I'm ready to feel like I am as attractive as my husband says I am to him.
I'm ready to learn how to fence competitively.
I'm ready to be able to clean my house without having to stop frequently to rest.
I'm ready to have my diabetes go into remission.
I'm ready to be able to drive my car without having the steering wheel rub against my stomach.
I'm ready to wear shorts, swimsuits, and other types of attire without feeling embarrassed.
I'm ready to increase my archery score. ( Not that it has anything to do with weight..)
I'm ready to go out to eat without feeling like people are watching the fat girl eat.
I'm ready to get up out of a chair without struggling.
I'm ready to wear my wedding rings again. (It makes me very sad to not be able to wear them)

And I'm ready for these next few months to go by so I can finish this 6 month diet, turn in my paperwork, and get approved for my DS!

What are you ready for?

I'm ready to exercise like a regular person without my tendinitis kicking in, disabling me from exercising for at least a week.

It's so freakin' frustrating - I try, and get knocked down for trying.  Ugh!

You have great goals.  Save this post for yourself so you can reread your post when you're post op.

I am ready to get rid of diabetes, high blood pressure and that darn C-pap(sleep apnea) machine.

I am ready to go on dates and lots of them!
My new life is beginning!
Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Super great goals, that I'm sure you'll achieve. (Aside from the archery - not sure!! )

My favorite one is the people watching the fat girl eat. Now they watchin the chubby girl eat and wonder how I'm not still fat. LOL. Gotta love that one. Especially at work functions. They love to comment on my butter consumption. Loves my butter!

You know, when I first started thinking about wls I was really focused on the diabetes and the way I looked both to myself and my husband. But then after reading posts from different people, and talking with the DS veterans I realized there's more to look forward to. You know, the little everyday stuff like cleaning house, and getting out of chairs. Those things are important too. I am learning so much from the people here. I feel like we are an extended family, and like a family we sometimes squabble with each other. But we all have simular goals, and we try to help each other reach those goals. Yeah if we see someone doing self destructive actions, tough love is sometimes used, but if we didn't care, we wouldn't say anything and just let them destroy themselves.

So I do ask the veterans when I have a question or need advice because most of them have been there/done that and it comforts me to know that they care enough to take the time to be on this site for newbies. And I learn, so that maybe one day I can pay it forward.

And that's why I'm ready. So everyone, please feel free to share what you are ready for because I am sure I can learn more.

I'm ready to ride a bike again, go hiking with my DH and not have to stop half way and sit on the bench and wait for him to come back down.

I'm ready to start living and I'm ready for my knees to feel better.
I'm ready to get this lymphedema under some sort of control (or the best life at control)

In 2 weeks I finish my 6 month history, I called the surgeon's office to double check the paperwork, and on the 17th everything will be turned in.
I'm ready.

Tried to shoot archery today. Shot 3 rounds before the 100 degree weather tried to kill me. I hang my head in shame at my score.

Beth,
Thank you for this great post.  I read it with a big smile on my face for you, and the others waiting for a date, because I know you'll achieve this...and many more Wows than you can imagine.

I could have written a similar post 2 years ago, and this is just what I needed to read tonight for a reality check.  I'm at goal, but still have days when I feel like it's not good enough, like I hate every saggy bump, and that I want to lose another 5-10 pounds  Your post couldnt have been more timely to show me what really matters, and how far I've come.  Honestly, old me would kick new me in the ass!
