See, NYB did not mention Prevacid. She mentioned Prilosec. I have mentioned it to you a few times as well and got the same response. I'm not pointing this out to be a ***** I'm pointing it out to show that you're missing what COULD be a really important detail.

So try it.  Generic is omeprazole.  Take 40mg in the am, and 40mg in the PM.  It's certainly worth a try.  Prevacid didn't work for me but Prilosec (omeprazole) does.

You can get this over the counter.

Just wanted to mention many insurance companies will pay for Prilosec when prescribed over 40 mg daily. I take 40 mg in the am, 40 mg in the pm just as you said and I have no issues with reflux. The OP really needs to try it especially since she hasn't yet-she better or she'll continue eroding her esophagus which is setting up a world of hurt if left untreated.

Ok I will try and see if it makes a difference. How long should I give it to see if its working and if not switch back to my current one?

You should try prislosec for two full weeks before you decide if it's working for you or not.

My only complication so far is an infected incision.

I'm so sorry sweetheart.  I don't know what to day except that I'm so sorry.

I'm sorry you are going through this.  I know Gagner likes to help with difficult cases.  He likes challenges... surgical ones especially.  I would also trust Rabkin for his opinion.  I have experience with Gagner and know he has helped other DSers with problems from other DS surgeons. He generally can find problems where others doctors don't see the issue.  Not saying your surgeon or surgery is at fault.  But if I were in your shoes I think I would consult one of those surgeons for an opinion.  Hang in there.

Totally agree.  Gagner and Rabkin have been doing the DS for a long time.  Another one is Daniel Herron at Mt Sinai in NYC or Alfons Pomp at Cornell in NYC.
