Gastroparesis/GERD Help Needed. Reglan issues?
I was on Reglan long term. After about 9 months I began this chewing biting motion with my mouth/teeth. Continued on the Reglan for another year not realizing it was causing me this problem, just thought it was a nervous thing I had developed. The Reglan worked wonderful for all of my GERDS/Hiatal hernia problems, but this mouth thing just got worse and constant. My PCP finally decided it was a side effect of the Reglan. I've been off of it for several months, and the problem is still there. My PCP told me last month that he is sorry, but it is most likely permanent.
He has now put me on a prescription dose of Zantac. It does work, thank goodness, and I have taken Prilosec for a long time now, too. Couldn't make it through without them.

Oh no I am so sorry to hear that, that must be devestating. I have heard it can work wonders but the side effects just seem to be too risky especially for me since I already have panic anxiety issues. I can only assume there is another medicine in the US that they can try that doesnt have those side effects. I am waiting on a Dr to come by so I can ask them some questions and try and figure out something medicine related. For the nausea I have meds they just tend to take a while to kick in and for the acid reflux I have meds so it seems I just need something for the slow emptying of my stomach which is said to be possibly causing my pain, fullness, nausea and vomitting. I also read it was only approved for short term use and they dont think this issue is going to go away so it doesnt seem to make sense to put me on something short term and even if it works have to take me off it as it says not to take it for more than x amount of time. Hugs!!
I took Reglan for about a month after my DS (between months 2 and 3) with no ill effects.
I think, just like any other medication, your results may vary. Your reaction to the medication may vary. And your body falling prey to the side effects may vary as well.
Do you know how long they propose to keep you on the Reglan? Will the Reglan fix the issue so that you won't have to stay on it long term?
I guess I might try the Reglan and see how you react to it, if it makes your anxiety/depression worse or you start noticing weird side effects then discontinue it. And then attempt to get the other Rx from Canada. Or you could try to go the Canada Rx route from the jump.

Maybe you can try neurontin to manage the pain from gastroparesis. Here is an interesting article on managing gastroparesis pain: http://www.digestivedistress.com/pain-rx. That site is the Gastroparesis & Dysmotilites Association website. You might be able to find some interesting info there.
