Very positive update to the constipation saga...
Update on what's going on: for the past 2 and a half years, I have had horrrrrid problems emptying my bowels. My stool is soft, but won't come out.
I've spent the last 2 yrs in and out of gastroenterologists offices, colonoscopy, handful of xrays, MRIs, marker studies, laxatives out the wazoo...nothing was helping. I was finally diagnosed with severe pelvic floor insufficiency, very large rectocele, and a small cystocele. Basically...pelvic organ weakness and prolapse.
I met with a colo-rectal surgeon last week, and he said he could totally do the rectum repair, but the gyno stuff just wasn't his thing, and I should see a urogynecologist.
Met with the urogynecologist today and loved him! He is very cautious and meticulous. He said he will definitely take care of me, but he needs to talk to a colorectal surgeon because he wants to have additional assistance taking care of my rectum, only wants to have me do one surgery for the rest of my life, while preserving my abilities to have children. He actually said he sees lots of weight loss patients in his office as weight loss causes loss of pelvic support and prolapse.
omgo****hink this whole ordeal may be over soon.
Oh...and I met with my 3rd plastic surgeon yesterday for a consult too. When I mentioned his name to the urogynecologist, he was totally thrilled, thinks the surgeon is great, and he even thinks I should do a TT and the pelvic floor repair at the same time. I won't hold my breath on that one, that'll require coordination of 3 surgeons schedules (yeah right! lol). Anyhow...sooo encouraging.
Very very hopeful that this fixes my problems. I still can't believe all this time I've had all this stool in my colon simply because everything is just backed up all the way from my rectum, but I realllllly hope this is the answer.

No kidding! I remember lurking here on the boards (almost exacty one year ago), and there were 2 people that I was inspired by - you and Melody. I am fairly young (28) and I remember reading all your posts! Thanks for paying it forward.

Kayla, you have been such an inspiration to me. So glad they got to the bottom of this. You just won't know until you get your quality of life back how free life can be. It seems at times we give up a piece of our health and adapt, so when it comes back to us, WOW moment. Hope you get yours sooner than later. Karen
