I know that you have gone through this exact same thing and was actually hoping that you would answer.  When I say I'm going to my doctor I mean Dr. S. I live 3 hrs away from him so I have to plan a trip to Texas. I can't just up and go with work and kids and a husband. Since I hurt my back someone has to drive me because I can't set up without reclining back for 3 hours so that means I have to plan to go when they have time off also. YES I have called them and they are aware of the problems I am having and that's why I'm getting so additional lab work done. I am not a complete idiot. I am very much so aware that the heart and many of our other organs rely alot on protein and luckliy I started to attack this problem when I realized that something was going hella wrrong. So please spare me. When I am asking are ideas about how to get more protein/food in to hopefully reverse the problem that I caused. I know I caused this problem.
Thank you Dustydear for your help

Wow, really? You just posted to one of the people you could learn the most from, "I was hoping you would respond, now go f yourself because I'm not listening to you?"

If you don't want any help, don't ask for it.

You already know that being a "picky eater" isn't an option. There's no excuse. I have 7 children and live on a lower middle class income. Hamburger is protein, eggs are protein, chicken breast is protein.
You're killing yourself in little increments and giving yourself a million excuses.

I can't make you stop. Only you can, but here's some easy and cheap protein sources:

Beef Jerky (especially if you make your own)
Cheese (Especially if you buy it in bulk at Costco or other place)
Milk (If you aren't lactose intolerant)
Eggs (all styles)
Cold Cuts
Hamburgers
Meatloaf
Chicken Breast (if it's tough on your sleeve pound it flat with a hammer while inside a ziploc then cook it covered in cream of chicken and mushroom soup. Top with cheese.)

Protein powders are expensive, but egg white powder is not. Neither is Dry skim milk. They can be added to numerous foods.

You can make peanut butter balls with sugar free honey, peanut butter, and dry skim milk (or dry egg white).

You can make deviled eggs to have on hand in the fridge. Hard boiled eggs of any kind are good for protein.

Then there are the fast food options: Wendy's Chili, Jack in the box grilled chicken strips or chicken fajita pita, El Pollo Loco chicken drumstick, $1 cheeseburgers at burger king, burger wraps at McDonalds.

And you don't have to "like" it. You just have to eat it. Like medicine. i don't like protein powder. So I drink mine like pudding shots. I use milk now for added protein. That's 25 grams of protein in 1/4 cup of fluid. (It winds up being 1/3 once the powder is in it). YOU obviously need to do that twice a day or so since you don't like to eat.

"Let you have it" . Nah. Just quit yer whinin' and do what you know you should. What good is it if you've traded asthma, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar for protein deficiency? It'll kill you just as efficiently as the others.

Believe me that's all I eat. I went to my 2 yr old cousin's birthday party on Saturday and ate a bunless hamburger patty with two slices of cheese. 10 mins later gagged barfed and ate another one. I eat so much chicken that I expect to lay my own eggs pretty soon. There is a place here called the Jerky Emporium and they know me by name. The GNC that I get my protein from knows me so well they preorder my protein because they know I need it and will be in to get it. I eat tukey/cheese roll ups, ham/cheese rollups all the time because the hospital cafeteria sells nothing but carbs. When I say I am a picky eater, I am BUT I have and do attempt high protein choices because I know I need them. I did not post this to get lectured. I am not a child. I have 3 of them. I just need help and SUPPORT getting on track.

I didn't lecture you. YOU said "let me have it" and all I said was you know what to do... do it.
Now you say you ARE doing it, but it isn't working, and you still feel like tar. Which is the exact opposite of your OP.
So I've got nothing. Good luck. I hope you and your doctor can figure it out.

Please listen to DUSTYDEAR.  She has been there, done that, and brought herself back.  You have got to get more protein in.  Whey protein is best, followed by eggs. Your body is starving to death, literally.

Nobody can make you do it.  Do it for yourself.  Do it for your three kids.

I need to lose about 2 more pounds for a normal BMI .  I still seem to be slowly losing at over 2 yrs out...so may get there yet.

You always this cranky or does it have to do with the malnutrition?  You asked for advice and said "let me have it".

I agree with the other posters, you need your doctor and some labs.  Also I will add that there are some of us that just do not absorb that well from food anymore and HAVE to do the protein shakes.

Good luck to you,

You need to quit your ******g whining about how people respond to a post SCREECHING for help and saying "Let me have it."

Get your ass to the doctor. Get better about your supplements. You aren't doing your due diligence here.

@bookfaerie- I'm going to write every suggestion you put down.  They are great!  I'll be getting my surgery in August or September and I'm compiling a quick cookbook/menu/food options that are high in protein.  After surgery it seems like it changes from living to eat to eat to live.  You're awesome!!!

Thanks Heidi. Glad someone got some help from it.
On that note, another of my "go to" foods that is quick and easy is deboning a precooked store chicken and sprinkling it with fajita seasoning. Then I add Rotel (mild or regular) and let simmer while I chop whatever veggies I want (or don't want!). Saute the veggies in oil and voila... instant high protein fajitas. :)

I like your cooking ideas, and the line earlier that "you don't have to "like it" you just have to eat it".

It made me chuckle, but is a good point, and why I also just chug some protein powder sludge down and then move onto something that I can actually enjoy.
