LOVE LOVE LOVE my DS!

This is so worth it! I love the DS life. I waited 2 years to have this surgery, switching surgeons during that time. I'd do it all again in a hot second! This surgery is definitaly worth the wait. So happy I found it on my road to the RNY! I know I would NOT have the same quality of life that I have with my DS! My mom says I'm like a kid with a new toy.
Speaking of mom, my family did NOT want me to have this surgery, or any other for that matter. My total support came from 1 cousin and my WLS friends here and IRL. Support groups, that kind of thing. This is the first time in my 33 years I ever went against everyone and did something for me, without support. I wanted this more then I have ever wanted anything in my life. The more I learned made me want it more.
Now my family love the fact that I had the DS. They finally understand this isn't even comparable to LapBand or Gastric Bypass. That's all they new. Hell my aunt still calls it stomach stapeling! Either way, they "kinda" get it now. I'm thrilled! So no matter what do this for YOU!!!

I am happier then I have been in my ENTIRE life! Life has never been this good. I am thankful EVERYday!! I have my days when I think still, is this gonna work? Am I ever going to be "normal", whatever that is! I think these are normal feelings. I just read and talk to others who feel or have felt the same way. In the end I think if I keep keepin on and doing what I gotta do, I'll get there. Hell, look how far I've come already!

Thanks to everyone for being there for me! LOVE to you all!!

Ruby

Great post Ruby.  That's the way to pay it forward!

Keep on doing what you've been doing and you will continue to shrink!!!  Don't buy too many clothes yet!!!

Thanks, Becky! I LOVE to pay it forward. I will explain my surgery to anyone who wants to listen. My weight loss has inspired others around me to look into WLS. In the end surgery type is an individual choice, but I always express the great difference between them. But like I said, personal choice. I just really stress RESEARCH!!

I love shrinking. And my clothes are mainly hand me downs or good will/thrift shop stuff. And let me tell you I find some NICE stuff at second hand stores! Love it!

I'm glad you are doing well. You're very lucky you got your surgery right the first cut.

Thank you so much!!

I almost didn't. I had scheduled an old Gastric Stapeling and decided to try diet and exercise one more time. A few years later I was at my wits end. I started seriously looking into WLS. I found a surgeon who was new to my area. I scheduled a seminar for the following week. I had my paper work filled out for RNY. Then I started reading about this surgery he did called the DS, duodenal switch. This was Dr John Husted. I read and read. This sounded wonderful and I hadn't even really started researching. I reprinted the surgery choice page and changed it to Duodenal Switch. Then the waiting started. The hospital needed it's COE because I have Medicare. I waited a year and half. He left before they ever got it. I had gotten a heads up from a great friend and instantly went to my plan B. Dr Margaret Inman. 6 months later I woke up with my very own DS! Now for the best years of my life to start. Thank God I found the DS. Like it was meant to be!!

Sorry but I just felt like sharing this part of my journey. Thanks for listening!!!
