Really, you don't want to take anything away from the bride so maybe you should wear a potato sack.  OOPS!  Kill that; you could rock out a potato sack.  I absolutley love the purple one, but I'm 60 so maybe I'm a fuddy duddy, too.  I personally think that the green one looks like a fish before it got cleaned and the blue one isn't very flattering either.  Is it really necessary for the mother of the groom to damned near show her ta-tas?  Once again, I guess I'm showing my age, but I think the purple one is more dignified without being matronly.

I think the dress you chose is nice, I do think you'd look absolutely gorgeous in the last dress though.  I really like that one the best of the three.

What can I say?  I like the first dress.  But then I was a 54 year old MOTB at the time (and quite a bit heavier than you):

Love the print on that dress, Diana.   BTW, I pulled the "deja piu" crack on my DH today and he laughed his ass off.

It was all beads in that odd reflective finish that reflected the light in shades of blue, purple and a deep green of all things.  I still love that dress.  I have a wedding to go to this weekend - I might drag it out for that ...

I agree with your sister--that first dress I could see on my grandmother.  And she's 85! lol

It probably would not be too bad but the jacket is so matchy-matchy.

Would a wrap dress be too casual?  They are very flattering.

I loved the purple dress and I don't think you are a fud or a dud!

Comfort for the evening, something you feel ok to dance in and beam at the bride and groom.  You don't want to wear something so constraining that you are uncomfortable or can't dance at the reception (or be afraid to hug anyone LOL).

I *AM* closer to 70 than 50, but I think Sis is a bit out in left field on the second dress.  I just don't think it's appropirate to the occasion.  Rehearsal dinner maybe.

You may be the only person on the planet who thinks your arms are flabby, but if having them hang out will make you feel awkward on that special occasion, don't do that to yourself.

I'm sure you will pick something that is appropriate to the occasion and makes you feel like a million bucks...

Hi Julie,
I think you would look lovely in either of the dresses (I am partial to the first one though).
