Biotin and hair question

Good news, my hair is no longer falling out. For almost a month now I have minimal to normal hair loss. My hair is healthier then ever. I love the new thickness of my hair. So heres the question- Do I quit taking the biotin now? I take 5000, the highest I could find at my local Wal Mart. My protein levels are amazing. My iron levels rock. The surgeon ask me to quit taking zinc as it was way high. Will keep an eye on that. My D is lower then pre op, but I'm already on higher dose. PTH is VERY good. I don't know what else to include. So what ya think?

I still take the biotin 5000 and I'm getting close to 2 years. It is good for a lot of stuff (of which I can't think of one right now). LOL
But anyway, I would not stop taking it. If you stopped taking the zinc you also need to then keep an eye out for the levels of copper. The 2 go hand in hand. If one goes low the other has a tendency to go higher.

Sounds like you are doing fantastic.

Thanks! I will keep taking it then! I will keep a CLOSE eye on my labs. While we're on the subject another question. I was taking 2 - 50's of zinc a day. Do you think I should quit all together or just cut it in half??

Ruby I don't really know what to tell you there. Does your doctor know you where taking 2 of them? I've never taken more than one at any time. I suppose it would kind of depend on how high your zinc is now.
I know, I'm no help at all, am I. LOL

Someone on facebook mentioned how they had like sores or just tender spots around their mouth and how they were also having a hard time healing.  The issue: Zinc.

My point: Don't stop taking it.  Just cut it down if you want to.

I think you have to watch your labs.

I cut down to 1000 of Biotin and my hair has stayed in goood shape. I also take 3 zinc picolinate a day. Everyone needs dif amounts. Keep an eye on the labs. If you start having any issues cut back on it.  I am due for labs soon, so that might change.

Hey Ruby!!

I would say keep taking the biotin!  It couldn't hurt right?  I take a hair, skin and nails treatment with high amounts of biotin and recently ran out of it.  When I don't take it my hair falls out and my skin looks dull.  Keep taking it just to assure that everything stays where it needs to lol

GOOD LUCK!

Question: Does biotin increase hair growth all over your body?

I really, honestly, think it does. I have more "baby hair" on my face, along with the *****lies than I ever have in my life, but the hair on my head is so thin that I hesitate to stop taking it. I wax and pluck constantly. Honestly, I could shave my legs every single day. So, for me, I think it does.

I saw this on TV, I think it's topical so would only affect the area you put it on. I might try it if my hair loss gets bad...
