Cracks at corner of mouth?
Anyone else suffering from those damn cracks/sores at the sides of your lips? Is this vitamin related? I had it while I took the augmentin, then it cleared up (so of course I blamed the augmentin), and now it's back again and I can't figure out why.
I've also had leg cramps, and adult acne issues.
So...I've only just started taking mag citrate (2 a day, vitalady's) a few weeks ago and I upped my vitamin A a couple of months ago to 150,000 a day (broken up into 3 batches).
Anything else for me to look at? I look like I have mouth herpes.

This happens to me a lot too, especially in the winter. I think it has to do with my sleeping with my mouth open a lot (I have horrible sinuses) and the skin drying out. I do notice it happening more when I haven't been drinking enough. I'm interested to hear if anyone knows it it might be vitamin-related.
I believe a B2 deficiency can cause cracks in the corner of the mouth.

Oh wow, thanks for that link. It's all over the map for possible causes, though. Looks like trial and error to find out why I have mine specifically.

OMG... I was just wondering if I should post asking the same question. Mine is more on just one side and I have a big crack that keeps opening up when I open my mouth to talk or eat something. It hurts!! I was googling and found the technical name for it which I can't remember at the moment. One of the suggested causes can be anemia or B deficiency. I have anemia so I have been wondering if that is the reason it keeps coming back (I have had it on and off for about a month). I have an appt. with a hematologist on Monday so I am going to ask. My friend told me that Vaseline (just the regular one In the jar) every night will fix it. I didn't have any so I tried Vitacilina, which is the Mexican cure all cream for anything skin related. It actually seems to be working! At least I didn't have to hold the corner of my mouth to talk today. We will see if it continues doing it's magi****il I can get my infusion. you probably don't have vitacilina handy so you might want to try the Vaseline for now. Ohh and checking your labs wouldn't be a bad idea either! Hope that helps.
I am a dental hygienist... there are several reasons for the corners of the mouth to crack, called Angular Cheilitis, Def in Iron, B 12. You can start by using a mouth wash rubbed in the corners of the mouth to stop the bacteria from growing, if it continues and dosn't heal then it is possibly a fungal infection, The dentist can write a RX to stop the fungus.
Larissa,
Kristin Watson mentioned that her surgeon told her mouth sores were related to Zinc deficiency. Hers cleared right up after starting on Zinc. Hope this helps.
